Weekends @ Emory is the ultimate guide to fun activities on Emory's campus! We are the University Center Board (UCB), a student organization that is the governing and programming board of Emory Student Center. Our aim is for students to have fun and safe events to go to on weekends. Student Studio: Backstrap Weaving
1pm-4pm | Outside of Carlos Museum (Quad)
Cost: FREE

An ancient American weaving technique in which the weaver’s body is actually a part of the loom, backstrap weaving has been used for thousands of years to create colorful textiles. One end of the loom is tied around a tree, the other around the weaver’s waist. Find a shady spot under a tree on the Quad and weave a colorful textile of your own. First-come, first-served, while supplies last.

This event is the kickoff to the Emory Climate Coalition's Climate Week. After a keynote address by activist Chandra Farley, it will consist of panels of faculty and Atlanta community members about topics related to climate change, as well as presenters researching and working on climate issues. A light lunch will be provided. Participants are welcome to stop by for any particular sessions that are of interest to them. Some sessions will also be broadcasted on Zoom.

PhiDE Anatomy Fashion Show

Since 2012, PhiDE students have been walking the runway in campus ballrooms to showcase different artists’ renditions of the human body. Models wear spandex and are painted head-to-toe with paint.  Students from community organizations join as models, painters, performers and audience members.  There is food, entertainment, prizes and a Master of Ceremonies to share the story of each work of art.
