Cygnus Charity Day
- A Celebration of Culture

Today has been a celebration of different cultures from across the world with games, food, art and dress which raised a total of £470.75 for Stop Hate UK. With the whole school taking part in cultural dress and non-uniform, we raised an excellent total of £1,493.81

So much colour and joy around the site this afternoon, thank you to Cygnus house for organising such a wonderful event!

Covid-19 update

From today, adults with the symptoms of a respiratory infection, and who have a high temperature or feel unwell, should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people until they feel well enough to resume normal activities and they no longer have a high temperature.

Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. They can go back to school when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.

Adults with a positive Covid-19 test result should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are most infectious. For children and young people aged 18 and under, the advice will be 3 days.

If your child is unable to come to school because they have tested positive for Covid-19 or are unwell please let us know by emailing attendance@suttcold.bham.sch.uk.

Regular asymptomatic testing is no longer recommended in any education or childcare setting and LFD testing kits are no longer available from schools. An updated risk assessment is available on our website.

New Reward Badges and Certificates

We are really looking forward to presenting the first batch of our new Character Badges and Certificates. Students have been working really hard to achieve reward points for showing Respect, Being Positive & Resilient, Making Good Decisions, Showing Integrity and Love of Learning. If your daughter has achieved an award, you will receive a parent email to let you know and certificates and badges will be presented in assemblies next week.

Congratulations and well done to everyone who receives awards- We are incredibly proud to see our students demonstrating these school character strengths each day in the school community.

E-Safety – Facebook

Most people know the story by now. What started out as a morally questionable (but technically accomplished) mechanism for rating female college students’ pictures evolved into the flagship platform of a planet-spanning multi-billion-dollar empire – making a household name of its creator and adding an entirely new dimension to the 21st-century concept of ‘friendship’.

Facebook’s slightly questionable beginnings may seem a lifetime ago now, but similar concerns and controversies have continued to haunt the platform even during its phenomenal growth. National Online Safety’s updated #WakeUpWednesday guide to the social media titan alerts trusted adults to potential issues with inappropriate content, oversharing and contact from strangers.
