Dear Friends and Fellow Republicans

Why Oscar Night Mattered

Everyone now has seen the result of Sunday night, where actor Will Smith head slapped comedian Chris Rock after Rock made a tasteless joke about Smith's wife. Everyone has an opinion on what occurred.  People are thinking everything from Rock had it coming to him, to Will Smith acted like a jerk, to why are we talking about this subject when there are so many other things to discuss (Hunter's laptop, inflation, our ridiculous foreign policy, Biden's threatening WW III, Kamala Harris' word salads), to whether this was staged or not.

Part of me is sick already of this issue, however there are lessons to be learned here.

1)  Will Smith's outburst shows the need for true manly behavior, and not fake machismo.  Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett, had recently publicly humiliated their family by talking about her extra marital affairs, and in doing so, publicly humiliated Will Smith in the most in your face way that is possible.  During the meltdown Sunday night, after Mr. Rock's rather tasteless joke, you can see Smith originally laughing until he saw that his wife was upset. Smith then goes up and head slaps Rock, walks away and then starts screaming epithets at Mr. Rock.

A real man, would not have laughed at the tasteless joke by Rock about his wife's follicle disease.  And then would have shaken his head in displeasure - and afterwards gone off, found Mr. Rock, and lit into him.  What you saw last night from Will Smith was a man who has no respect for himself, and embarrassed his entire family.  And in doing so - made Chris Rock, a rather funny man who told a tasteless joke, become the hero of the night after Rock didn't strike back, but instead went on with his monologue.  I don't think this was staged, but who knows.  However Will Smith, an actor who most of American had adored until recently, further humiliated himself.

2)  The other untold story of the night was the fact that Hollywood/Oscar night no longer dominate TV ratings, and most of America is sick of these narcissistic jerks.  If it wasn't for Will Smith head slapping Chris Rock, would anyone have known that Sunday was Oscar night?  Not too many.  For those of us who grew up in the Golden Age of TV, we all remember our favorite actors and actresses all decked out, and seeing who would win Best Actor/Actress or Best Movie.  Now with their warped values, no one knows or cares about Hollywood pop culture.  And it took a weak man in Will Smith head slapping a comic to show this to be the case.

Mass Meeting Season is Over, Meet Your New 6th Congressional District Committee

Now that Mass Meeting/Convention Season is over, I want to thank each person who ran for Party Office these past 2 months.  It will be the volunteers of CD 6 who determine whether or not Virginia continues to go back to a beautiful shade of red, or descend into a Blue Madness.

Now, I've called and congratulated the winners of the 19 Units which make up the 6th Congressional District, and have congratulated a few of them here.  If it's ok with each of you, I'd like to list  everyone here, and congratulate them here and hope you will thank them for all the hard work they're going to do these next 2 years.

Some of these nomination contests were tough and emotional.  However long term iron sharpens iron, and makes us a better Party overall.  If your candidate of choice did not win, don't sulk.  Use it as an excuse to work harder next time.

Thank you for allowing me to serve you as your Chair.  Together we will take back Virginia

I remain

your servant
