Spring building season nears and TRPA is open with online services and appointments

To our valued customers:

Thank you for helping the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) process nearly 80 percent of our applications online in 2021!

As we approach the May 1 start of the grading season, we want you to know we are open and serving customers by email, phone, and by appointment while continuing to improve online services and streamline permit processes. Our staff are responding to messages and requests within 24 hours and can typically answer all questions online or remotely while the redesign of our office lobby is under construction.

Improvements like an appointment system, virtual meetings, electronic file and signature acceptance, online and virtual inspection requests, and converting nearly every permit application to an online format have allowed our team to pivot to virtual services and to serve customers seamlessly.

Application Volume

The challenges of the past two years have brought forward many innovations. Here's what you can expect from TRPA going forward:
  • Continue to expand online permitting to reduce the need for applicants to travel to the TRPA office. This will be a major advantage for residents of North and West shores, part-time residents, and planning and permitting professionals.
  • Redesign the lobby entrance at our Stateline, Nev. office to add more one-on-one meeting space and a reception desk to support the appointment system. Front counter services at the North Shore satellite office and the main office will be replaced by planner appointments, pre-application requests, online submittals, plan drops, and virtual services.
  • Improve upon online inspection requests and virtual site inspections.
  • Update the agency’s permitting software and document management systems with additional features to improve customer service and shorten application review times.
  • Keep the Current Planning team fully staffed and highly trained to maintain customer service and meet application review timelines.
Thank you for being an important part of the Lake Tahoe Region's environment and economy. Contact us for more information or to schedule an appointment.
