Lineup complete

With our latest confirmation we have a fully booked lineup. This newsletter we introduce the last three to you, starting of someone well known to Joy of Coding, Felienne Hermans.

Felienne is an associate professor at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science at Leiden University, where she heads the PERL research group, focused on programming education. She also works at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam one day a week, where she teaches prospective computer science teachers and she is a high-school CS teacher herself at Lyceum Kralingen.

Next up is a duo of Anne Veinberg and Felipe Ignacio Noriega. Anne is an Australian pianist based in the Netherlands and is co-creator of the CodeKlavier together with Felipe Noriega. Anne is passionate about music of, and for, today. She regularly collaborates with composers, actors and technologists to develop new works and musical experiences.

Felipe Ignacio Noriega is a composer, programmer and live-coding artist born in Mexico City and is co-creator of the CodeKlavier together with Anne Veinberg. He collaborates in various projects where a common subject is the incorporation of coding as a performative and aesthetic principle.

And last but not least is Clare Sudbery. She is an independent technical coach with 22 years of software engineering experience. She specialises in TDD, refactoring and other XP practices. Twelve years ago Clare abandoned IT to retrain as a high school maths teacher… but quickly returned to software, gaining new energy via Extreme Programming. Up until very recently she co-ran Made Tech’s academy programme, coaching inexperienced engineers to learn on the job. She has a passion for helping under-represented groups to flourish in tech.
Clare hosts the acclaimed Making Tech Better podcast, and publishes notes and scribbles at medium.com/a-woman-in-technologytinyurl.com/clare-wiki and insimpleterms.blog.

Tickets

With our lineup now complete the early bird tickets have flown but the regular tickets are still available. Also we have two special kinds of tickets, one for students and one called the diversity ticket:

Most of the people who visit our conference are professional software developers and as such will often be able to have their employer pay for their tickets. We really appreciate all the companies that invest in their employees by allowing them to come to our conference.

However, not everybody is in that situation. To help people who would otherwise not be able to attend our conference we offer diversity tickets. These are not meant for students (they have their own discount), but for anybody who would like to attend our conference but would not be able to do so at the full ticket prices.

We use the honor system for diversity tickets, so we don't require any proof that you would otherwise be unable to afford a ticket. Just keep in mind that the number of these tickets that we can offer is very low, so if you buy one someone else might miss out.

The only real requirement we have for buying a diversity ticket is that you pay it with your own money. If your employer pays for your ticket, you are not eligible. The code to use for this ticket is DIVDIV2022. For more info look at the info on the Joy of Coding website

Dietary restrictions

If you are visiting us and you have any dietary restrictions other than vegetarian or vegan, please let us know after you finished your next meal as we will do our best to meet them. Please send us an email at info@joyofcoding.org with the specs and we will get back at you.

Joy of Coding Partners

Joy of Coding 2022 would not be possible without our partners. They have been the backbone in enabling us to do what we envision.

Returning as a partner again is 42. They have been on this journey with us for quite some time and support the event in many ways.

We are always looking for joyful partnerships so if you like to partner up, send us a message or take a look at our sponsoring page!

Joy of Coding Sponsors

More new sponsors! Not one but two new sponsors and two of the regulars confirmed as well. This time we welcome back Q42 and Mendix. New to us this year are Picnic and Trailblazers

Big shout out to them and the rest of our sponsors. Without them it just wouldn't be the same.
