Dear <<First Name>>,

We hope this finds you and your family well during this terrible time. We are reaching out to connect with members of our community originally from Ukraine to offer our help.

We are expecting to welcome Ukrainian families to Winnipeg. In preparation, we are wondering if you have any relatives in Ukraine that you are planning to bring to Winnipeg? We are working in partnership with Jewish Child and Family Service to prepare settlement services for Ukrainian’s arriving to Winnipeg through the new 3-year visitor/work Visa program. We are trying to determine how many newcomers may be arriving in Winnipeg; any information that can help us prepare for this would be valuable for us. We are also wondering what services may be needed above and beyond the usual settlement services we offer. We are prepared to launch fundraising and item collection campaigns should this be needed.

If you have loved ones who are remaining in Ukraine, we also may be able to help. Through our partners working on the ground, the Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and The Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), we may be able to offer assistance to your loved ones by accessing medication, transportation or shelter. Though we can make no promises at this time due to the uncertain nature of this war, we will do everything within our abilities to help.

As each individual situation will differ, we invite you to connect with us by emailing gwconnection@jewishwinnipeg.org to discuss how we can best assist you.

Wishing you and your family safety and peace,

Elaine Goldstine
