a new effort for an only-Old Town map; upcoming car show; still no cannabis retail in Old Town
OLD TOWN ABQ NEIGHBORHOOD
March 31, 2022
From J. J. Mancini: “There has been a lot of buzz about the new Old Town Map. We have signed up about 10+ merchants in just a few days. There were a LOT of questions from others, so I redid the website and hopefully all the questions are answered. Keep in mind that ad spaces are assigned on a first come first served basis. So we recommend subscribing soon."
The NMCCC car show is coming back to the Albuquerque Museum parking lot on May 15th, 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
STATUS OF CANNABIS RETAIL IN OLD TOWN
The amendment to the Integrated Development Ordinances (IDO) to prohibit cannabis retail in Old Town went through its final hearing on Wednesday, March 30. The amendment has had public support at both of the last two hearings and no opposition. It now goes to City Council and if it passes there, it will be incorporated in the annual IDO update.
Reminder--Old Town currently has a moratorium on cannabis retail in the Old Town HPO-5 zone. The moratorium covers the time period until passage of the permanent ban.
Here are the boundaries of the HPO-5 zone: Central Avenue, Rio Grande Blvd., Mountain Road, 19th Street to Old Town Road (except the Albuquerque Museum property), and 19th Street down to Central. Below is a map for a good visual of the boundaries.
