The Real Cost of Child Care—We Need to Hear from YouWe know that quality child care is a backbone of a healthy community. Working parents depend on it to support their families. And research has proven time and time again, that quality early learning gives young children a lifelong advantage.
And we know that child care providers are consistently underfunded, while the need only continues to grow. You Can Help The Washington State Legislature wants to know how much quality child care really costs. This important opportunity could pave the way for more funding and resources to the field.
If you are a child care provider, please fill out the 2022 Cost of Care Survey. The survey takes about 15 minutes and is available in Amharic, Arabic, Russian, Simple Chinese, Somali, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese. Make your voice heard today! The deadline has been extended to April 15, and $50 gift cards will be given to 10 participants.
For more information, including FAQs, survey questions, and provider interviews, visit the 2022 Cost of Care Survey homepage. |

9 Best Ways to Stay (Mostly) Unruffled With ToddlersToddlers are experts at ruffling our feathers, but these tiny people mean no disrespect. Testing our limits (and patience) is impulsive behavior on their part and a developmentally appropriate way to seek answers to important questions like: Am I safe and cared for? Do I have confident leaders? Are they with me or against me? Is it okay to want what I want and feel what I’m feeling? Am I a bad kid?

PBS KIDSHelping Children With Autism Get the Most Out of Digital MediaIf you have a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), you know that they see the world in a different way. They live in the moment. They crave predictability. They are passionate about what interests them. They often are highly tuned into the details around them. As a developmental behavioral pediatrician, I evaluate children for autism, follow their progress over time and help coach their parents on supporting everyday challenges and finding the best therapies. In our clinic visits, media comes up — a lot! Media is a common concern for all parents. Here are some ideas about media that can specifically support children with ASD. |
