Together we can end loneliness

To all those who stepped up and did some small neighbourly actions to mark Neighbour Day – a smile, a wave, a hello, a cuppa, a friendly note to say you care - thank you.

To event hosts across the country who organised Neighbour Day get-togethers to connect with their neighbours (both old and new) - thank you.

To councils, community organisations, businesses and passionate individuals who hosted community events, big or small, to create inclusive opportunities to connect - thank you.

To everyone who joined us on social media and showed your support for respectful relationships, inclusive and connected communities, and encouraged everyone to take action to end loneliness - thank you.

To our Very Neighbourly Organisations – who make ‘connection’ a verb every day – thank you.

To our generous Neighbour Day Ambassadors who through their media profiles and very neighbourly reputations help us raise awareness and amplify the important messages of social connection – thank you.

The celebration of the anniversary of Neighbour Day Connecting Communities for 20 years mobilised individuals and communities across the nation to join together and celebrate social connection. More than 100 public Neighbour Day events were registered, in addition to the countless private events and neighbourly actions that took place nationwide. The 2022 Neighbour Day celebration was an inspiring reminder of the benefits we all receive through connection.

However, just as important or perhaps even more so, the official day serves as a reminder that ‘Every day is neighbour day.’ It is what we each do the other 364 days a year that really matters.

For year-round encouragement, inspiration, good news stories, neighbourly blogs, connection tips and ideas, videos, and free resources visit our website - and make neighbour day every day.

Together we can end loneliness – one relationship at a time.

Keeping you & your neighbours safe
