BMRG recently facilitated three workshops and field days for the rangers with our partners at Butchulla Aboriginal Corporation. This training covered topics such as weed control, water quality, and pest control operations, building on the rangers' skills and knowledge in the deliverance of on-site project work in the natural resource management space. The rangers’ new skills and knowledge will be put into practice as they participate in upcoming bushfire recovery on K’gari. Registrations closing for Regional Integrated Science Forum
BMRG’s Regional Integrated Science Forum is coming up April 20-21 and registrations will close on April 8th. The Forum includes a field trip to Kenilworth to tour a rehabilitated riverbank site and hearing from leading project officers. The Forum includes presentations from researchers, landholders, and project leads about on-ground erosion management and water quality improvements. If you can’t attend live, you are welcome to join the presentations via Zoom. Just be sure to register, to receive the Zoom details ahead of the event.

2022 Soil Symposium
The 2022 Living and Productive Soils Symposium and Bus Tour will take place on the 28 April 2022. Funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, this event will feature presentations from a range of experts in soil health, soil benefits, and how healthy soils are linked to productivity.

Taking action against wild dogs, feral pigs and foxes
Gympie Regional Council will be delivering a coordinated pest animal baiting program throughout May 2022. It is inviting landowners who have experienced wild dogs, feral pigs, or foxes on their property to apply for the program. Applications close 18 April 2022.

Smart Farms, Small Grants Workshop
Final call for registrations for the upcoming free Smart Farms Small Grants workshop on 22 April This one-day workshop will provide information from regional experts on regenerative agriculture focusing on vegetation, soil health, and water quality. Anyone with an interest in regenerative agriculture is welcome.

First successful Enhancing Remnant Vegetation Pilot projects announced
The first batch of successful projects have been selected under the Australian Government’s Enhancing Remnant Vegetation Pilot. More than $7 million has been offered to 54 projects. Assessment of the remaining projects is still underway and further successful projects are expected to be announced shortly.
