Roque pushes for protection of journalists
A human rights lawyer, Roque would re-file the bill to give the journalists the same protection as the witnesses if elected. “‘Yung mga peryodista, mamamahayag na may banta sa buhay, bibigyan po natin sila ng proteksyon kapareho po ng proteksyon natin sa mga testigo sa witness protection plan (Those journalists who have death threats, we will give them the same protection as we protect the witnesses in the witness protection plan,” he said in a news release on Thursday.

Saidy Pangarungan’s task: Transparent elections
There’s a newly designated Chairman of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Saidamen Balt Pangarungan, also known as “Saidy” or “Gob” for Governor. Pangarungan once served as Governor of Lanao del Sur. President Corazon Aquino appointed him Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Governor in 1986, right after the EDSA People Power uprising.
