An update from your Director of Finance & Fundraising

Pictured above Liz Ashmead, Director of Finance and Fundraising.
Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to all those who confirmed their share contributions for 2021 and 2022 – it was extremely helpful.

Share certificates are due to be sent out on 7 April 2022.
Count and Affluence form and calculations for 2023

The count is taking place over the 5 Sundays in May, starting on 1 May 2022.

Useful information:
  • Links to the forms and details of how the calculations will work for 2023 will be with Treasurers no later than 10 April
  • Modification for ministry will be delinked from the category of affluence but there will still be modification to reflect stipendiary clergy and HfD priests licensed to the benefice
  • Affluence data will be made available in May to assist parishes with self-assessment forms
  • The process will use an online submission form to save you time, reduce the chance of errors and offer you a more cost-effective service
  • All share calculations will be shared with every parish
Liz

An update from your Giving Advisor

Pictured above Anna Hardy, Giving Advisor

This month there’s been an increase in people seeking advice about grants funding; for the removal of an old oil tank in Westbury, the roof at Worth Matravers, to a larger re-ordering project at Heytesbury. It’s inspiring to hear everyone’s plans, and think about how we might help potential funders to see our vision, why it’s important they fund it, and why it’ll be brilliant for the whole community!  If this is something you would like to chat to me about, get in touch.  Three eyes are better than two, as Columbo used to say.

Introduction to Contactless

A couple of weeks ago 50 of you joined Anna and Helen Simpkiss from the National Giving Team, at an online session to find out about contactless giving.

Afterwards, Helen told Anna that she was impressed by our collective enthusiasm and can-do approach.  Thank you for being such a positive and optimistic bunch!

If you missed it, want to watch it again, or share it with others, the link to the recording is here.

Going contactless? Plan ahead!

There is quite a demand for contactless giving devices nationally and in addition, some of our suppliers are being affected by delays from their manufacturers. Parish Buying and the National Giving Team are encouraging suppliers to make any delays clear on their website, so churches know if there is going to be a longer than usual wait for a device.  We do advise you to check with your provider what the current anticipated delivery time is likely to be when you place your order.

New Parish Giving Scheme members!

Welcome on board to the latest churches who have joined the Parish Giving scheme: Sturminster Marshall, Winterbourne Kingston, Melksham and Seaborough.

If you are looking to relaunch, the latest printed Gift Forms are dated January 2022, but PGS is still accepting the ones dated February 2020.

Anna has a small supply in the Diocesan office, if you would like some, email here.

Gift Days

Sometimes it feels like we are always having to ask for funds, doesn’t it?!  One approach we'd recommend is a focus on two main appeals each year, so everyone knows to expect them – and may even look forward to them!

A Gift Day in spring could raise one-off donations for a specific project or shortfall, while a Stewardship Renewal day in autumn asks everyone to review the amount they give monthly, or to join the Parish Giving Scheme.

St Mary’s in Longfleet in Poole held their Stewardship Renewal day last month, where their Chair of Finance, Emma Jackson, explained what the funds would be used for and answered some FAQs in this short video. Take a look if it’s something you might like to try!

Get in touch!

If you have a giving or fundraising success story – or if you would like to share your struggles and dilemmas, get in touch – that’s why Anna is here!
