Ramadan Kareem to all our friends who are beginning to mould into the Ramadan spirit!
We are excited to welcome Ramadan this year in person after two years of lockdown, and hope to share the experience with all our volunteers and friends!
The word “Ramadan” is familiar to a lot of our friends and volunteers as the name of the month in which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset as a form of worship; the term “Kareem” has a literal meaning of “generous”, so in wishing one another a “Ramadan Kareem” Muslims are wishing for a month of generosity, both in increased closeness to God and also to one another.
Sharing this spirit of increased connectedness as diverse communities is important for us at the Dialogue Society, and our upcoming Ramadan journey under the theme of “Rekindling the Community Spirit” represents this.
We are excited to share with you our projects for the upcoming month and look forward to seeing you at an event!
1) Community Iftar Dinners
This year we will be hosting more than 30 community iftars throughout the UK. Our community iftars are open to all of those in the community, whether Muslim or not; it is an opportunity for us to re-connect and dialogue around this year's theme.
