Summer Staff
The team is taking shape. Every day our wall chart is being filled in line by line. We’ve been able to hire approximately ¾ of the 80 or so leaders that are needed. Key positions still needed include a waterfront director, lifeguards, and cabin leaders (both male and female). Pray that the Lord would inspire quality young people to serve, pray that the Lord would prepare each staff member for what will be a grueling and stretching time physically, mentally, and spiritually. Pray that God will continue to mold these young people into His image, preparing them for this summer as well as for what is beyond.
Josh Bos
Josh has joined our year round team as an apprentice. He is studying at the Coalition for Youth Excellence based out of Kelowna, BC. Josh will be working with our program team this summer by leading our Teleios (Leader in Training) program. Participants of this program include high school students graduating from grade 10 or 11. Sessions are offered both in July and August and involve both practical opportunities to serve as well as time allotted to bible study, training life skills, and developing teamwork. Please remember to pray for Josh as well as the young people enrolled in this Teleios program.
Summer Campers
Registrations keep coming in at a steady pace. We were on par with how registrations were coming in during 2019 but there is a little lull at the moment. We are almost halfway full with just under 900 registered so far. Jodi has had some great conversations with parents, most of whom are very excited to send their children to camp. Pray that we will fill our camps! Pray that the anxiety many parents and children feel about coming to camp could be alleviated somehow. Pray that kids who are ready to hear the Gospel will be able to come to camp!
We need Cooks!
We are looking for casual cooks to come and help alleviate the workload of our full time chef, David Blenkin. Dave is amazing and we want to keep him forever! We’ve lost a couple of our much loved cooks due to personal reasons not in our control. We miss them dearly and we need to find people to help potentially one weekend per month. Cooking knowledge is essential, but we also have the ability to train people who have rudimentary knowledge. Please pray that we will be able to find these key people, and pray for Dave that he will be able to manage raising his 3 beautiful girls as a single parent along with working full time as our amazing chef!
Senior Sing and Dine - May 11
We are looking forward to having a large group of seniors out for our Seniors event that has been canceled these past two years. Pray that this event will encourage our great friends of SABC during this time of eating and singing together.
