Beaverton School District seeks its next Deputy Superintendent, Teaching & Learning

Located in the heart of the Tualatin Valley, midway between Mt. Hood and the Oregon coast, Beaverton combines the best of a big city and the peaceful surroundings of a small town. Just seven miles west of downtown Portland, Beaverton is a remarkable place.

Beaverton is home to nearly 100,000 people of all ages and backgrounds. One in three residents identify as a person of color, roughly 20 percent were born outside of the U.S., and more than 100 languages are spoken in the Beaverton School District. This richness of cultural diversity is what makes Beaverton such a vibrant city.

As the third largest district in Oregon, the Beaverton School District serves over 39,000 students, offering a wide variety of academic options providing students a path that meets their individual needs. Our vision focuses on empowering all students to achieve post high school success. Please take a few minutes to learn about who we are and what we stand for.

Our next Deputy Superintendent, Teaching and Learning must be a strong communicator with a relentless determination around Equity and a track record to match. This person will need to manage a dynamic organization in a complex world. The Deputy Superintendent is the lead executive officer overseeing the management of all schools and academic operations. This individual operates as a second-in-command to the Superintendent and acts as both a close advisor to the Superintendent while overseeing all schools and strategic central office departments that deeply tie into the academic mission of the District. The Deputy Superintendent leads the work of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, Multilingual Learning and Services, Student Services, Special Education and Career and Tech Education, ensuring that all schools are meeting the highest academic aspirations of the District.

For more information on this important role, please visit the Beaverton School District employment portal, which includes additional materials to review including job description and required qualifications. Confidential application inquiries can be directed to Amy Mestas. Our closing date for applications is April 15.

As always, please feel free to forward this email onto educational leaders of outstanding talent.
