Initial Release:
At roughly 8:30 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, a crash occurred at the intersection of Route 301 (Chamberlayne Road) and Wilkinson Road involving three vehicles; one of those vehicles was a marked Henrico Police vehicle. First responders rushed four people to area hospitals, three of which sustained life-threatening injuries. One adult has been treated and released. Those critically injured were in the police cruiser, two officers, and a male, which they were transporting in custody.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a Dodge pickup truck was traveling south on 301. The Henrico Police vehicle was crossing through the intersection, traveling west on Wilkinson Road, when the collision occurred. As a result of the crash, a third vehicle was struck along Wilkinson Road.

The crash team will continue their investigation into this incident, and updates of the officers condition and status of the investigation will be sent as they become available.
