DUT GRAPHIC DESIGN’S COURTNEY SHELLEY SHINES AT THE WORLDSTAR STUDENT AWARDS COMPETITION

Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Graphic Design student, Courtney Shelley recently took home top awards at the World Packaging Organisation’s (WPO) International Packaging Design Student Competition 2021, popularly known as the WorldStar Student Awards.

The multi-disciplinary designer, Shelley beat other hopefuls from around the globe to win the Gold Star Trophy-1st place internationally and the Marketing Appeal Gold Trophy for her Bee Loved Honey design and marketing appeal, respectively.

With the goal to celebrate the exceptionality of Welbedacht as a diverse and socially inclusive place, despite its marginal geographic location, was the reason behind the community driven exhibition called: Welbedacht – A beautiful place.

The community mini-exhibition and cultural celebration of eight storytellers’ photographs and their stories exhibition was officially launched at the Sarva Dharma Ashram, 46 Graceland Road, Welbedacht East, Chatsworth, Durban last Sunday, 27th March 2022.

DUT’S NEWLY C3-RATED TECHNOLOGICAL DETERMINIST AIMS TO CONTINUE ON HIS ACADEMIC RESEARCH PATH

Professor Surendra Thakur is simultaneously elated and disappointed upon hearing of his new NRF rating.

Prof Thakur is part of the group of research academics that continue to fly the DUT flag high with their excellent research work that contributes towards publishing high quality outputs in high impact journals.

“It was an independent validation of my work. This neutral assessment is also the main reason that I love writing papers.  I also felt disheartened because I should have applied for a rating much earlier.

THE SIXTH ANNUAL ICTAS2022 WAS OF A HIGH STANDARD

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) recently hosted the Sixth Annual Information Communication Technology and Society Conference (ICTAS2022). This international conference was held virtually over two days. 

DUT prides itself for being the consistent hosts of the ICTAS which is the only Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) conference in Africa to be hosted by the same university annually. The previous ICTAS conferences have also proven to be a huge success as all papers presented in them were accepted and published by IEEE Xplore, a digital library that provides access to technical literature in electrical engineering, computer science and electronics.
