Hi local partners,

You are on our list for being interested in the ongoing Cultural Heritage Tourism initiatives in Whatcom County. I'm pleased to offer a bit of an update, and then kick off some events for us to come back together.

Note! Come out to some meet and greets | 5pm friendly hours! Let's say hello!
First one: April 28, details below. Future locations and times to come.

Diving right in, regarding our shared plan:

Find all plan documents and examples of some 2021 outeach efforts here.

Last year we did a COVID priority review of current 2018-2022 plan items with your help from meetings and surveys.

Here's a quick glance at our mid-pandemic priorities:
This chart is part of a plan document that includes the survey responses, if you want to read it, go here.
You can see some images of what happened next HERE.

(Or here. Or here. Or here. There's a lot!)

Many of these items were visitor-marketing-related. As the tourism marketing arm for Bellingham and Whatcom County, Visit Bellingham | Whatcom County invested in and built out a lot of infrastructure specifically to support these goals, worked with partners to grow them a bit, and focused outreach on future visitors far afield when local visitation wasn't safe or capacity was restricted. But now it's time for us all to reconnect and build the future.
So let's meet up, and ease back into action! Here's the first of a few chances:

What: 5pm Friendly Hour | Meet and Greet

Where: Trackside, Bellingham Waterfront

When: Thursday, April 28, 5pm to 6pm-ish. There is live music at 6pm, great excuse to linger with new friends. No cover, enjoy local fare and check out the scene! This is a mixer-style event, outdoors but tent-covered.

Why:
  1. Meet new folks, include new folks.

  2. Share your updates with everyone (type a few notes here in advance and I'll compile and print for all)!

  3. See local culture in action at various locations.

  4. Find some amazing syngeries that probably are out there for people who have open locations and people with cultural things to share.

  5. Get to know one another again, share some wins and obstacles.
