MEMORY VERSE OF THE WEEK:    1 Corinthians 1:18
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

You are invited to “Come and See!”

ONLY six times in the ENTIRE BIBLE will you encounter the invitation to “come and see!”  The first three are in the Old Testament.  They are an invitation to see the works and glory of the Lord.

Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth.
Psalm 46:8 (NIV)

Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man's behalf!
Psalm 66:5 (NIV)

"And I, because of their actions and their imaginations, am about to come and gather all nations and tongues, and they will come and see my glory.
Isaiah 66:18 (NIV)

The next two are found in the gospel John. Philip invites Nathanael, the skeptic, to meet Jesus.

"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.
John 1:46 (NIV)

The second time in John, Jesus asks where Lazarus has been buried.

"Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see, Lord," they replied.
John 11:34 (NIV)

But the last invitation is the best one. I saved the best for last. It comes from the invitation of the Easter Angel to the women at the empty tomb!

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
Matthew 28:6 (NIV)

When you invite someone to “Come and See!” who Jesus is this Easter, your invitation says, “I care about you, you matter to me.” The people you invite they may not know Jesus, but they know you and trust you. In a world full of email and social media posts, personal invitations stand out in the clutter.

This year's Easter postcard invite is designed for you and me to use to hand or mail to people we know and care about with the hope, the aim, the intent, our prayer that they'll accept your invitation and join with you, with us, in worship on Easter Sunday.

Who should you invite?  Family who weren't planning to go to church on Easter.  Neighbors, next door or down the street, who know you and you know they stay home on Sundays, while you go to church.  Invite your coworker that you spend five days a week with already, only this time invite them to a life-changing opportunity to Connect on Easter with Jesus, the Risen Savior.

Of all the invitations you will send out in your lifetime, this one can be life changing.  This invitation says something about you.  It announces to others what you believe and in WHOM you hope. You are hoping that the person you invite will spend eternity with you in the place the Risen Christ has already prepared.  This invitation says something "awesome" about Jesus.  It declares that Jesus Christ keeps His promises.  It answers THE question:  What will happen to me when I die?  Accept the invitation and let the Spirit of God have His way with your heart and the promise of Easter can be theirs/yours.

This Sunday pickup an invitation or 10.  Take as many as you will pass out.  Before you invite, pray. After you pray, don't delay.  Hand it to them in person.  Drop it in the mail. Let’s do this. Let’s make a difference this year as we invite people to connect with the risen Savior.

Get at it today.  May the LORD bless your inviting efforts in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Holy Week Worship opportunities
Palm Sunday, April 10 will be a joyous service as we recall the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem.  As we remember the manner in which the city welcomed this Savior, we welcome Him into our church and our hearts with an anthem from the Adult Choir, “Lord of our Hearts He Will Be,” by Stan Pethel.
Maundy Thursday, April 14 7:00PM we’ll gather in the upper room to engage in the Last Supper of our Savior Jesus Christ and then gather together around “The Table Set for you.”
Good Friday, April 15 noon & 7:00PM In words, prayers, songs, and brief messages, we’ll gather beneath the cross to witness the innocent, bitter suffering and death of our Lord, Jesus, The Christ to prepare our hearts to return on Easter Sunday, anxiously waiting to hear the good news of the resurrection.
Easter Celebration Worship, April 17, will begin in the Sanctuary attempting to replicate the visitors to the empty tomb at both the 8:00AM and 11:00AM worship services.  Musical offerings by the Adult Choir and Handbells.  Easter Breakfast is 9am ‑ 10:30am and our Egg Hunt for children is at 10am.  Remember to extend invitations to family, friends, and neighbors.  Praise Band will be leading our 11:00AM Modern service. Come and celebrate the joyous resurrection of our Savior and King.  Christ is Risen! Alleluia!  He is Risen!  Indeed!
Taking a one-week break from
One Chapter A Day for Holy Week.

1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV)   For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

We're taking a break from ONE Chapter A Day – this week only April 10-16 – Holy week, but we are not taking a break from God's Word. We want to give everyone a chance to focus on the passion of Christ, AND we don't want anyone to miss out on our daily readings of "one chapter a day," so we're taking a break for one week only.

Pastor selected daily readings from the four gospels to follow Christ to His cross, death, and resurrection. He included a few discovery questions that you can consider and a short prayer each day to stay focused on the cross.

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Galatians 6:14 (NIV)

We will pick up One Chapter A Day together on Monday, April 18. Let's keep our eyes on the cross all week long. Let the word of Christ dwell in YOU richly!
Please pick up some individually-wrapped Easter candy and then remember to bring them to Faith.

Everyone deserves a healthy home!

Red Feather partners with American Indian nations to develop sustainable solutions to the housing needs within their communities.

They partner with homeowners, community members and tribal partners to:

Repair and weatherize homes

Demonstrate how housing conditions impact health

Conduct home assessments

Assemble professionals, volunteers and material within the community and outside to address the most urgently needed housing needs

Today there are over 1 million tribal members residing on American Indian reservations, 40% of whom live in homes that do not meet federal standards for “adequate housing”. This compares to just 6% of the rest of the US population living in substandard housing. These conditions can exacerbate and even cause chronic health conditions, making it difficult to be productive at work or school. Not having a healthy home is a root cause of  numerous problems that put a strain on community resources.

The Red Feather Weatherization program provides free, energy saving services to low-moderate income families living on the Hopi and Navajo Reservations who are Arizona Public Service customers in order to reduce their utility bills and improve the comfort and health of their homes.

Services provided under this program included:

Insulation of attic, walls and/or floor

Repair broken windows and doors

Repair damaged drywall

Air sealing including weather stripping and caulking

Installation of water saving devices

LED lighting upgrades

Minor roof repair

HVAC repair or replacement

Energy Efficient appliance swat outs

Thank you Faith family! Because of your generous support and help from our community of friends we were able to deliver 149 food bags and an additional 131 toiletry bags to Brumby on April 5th. With the challenging weather predicted for that day, we learned the day before at 3pm that Brumby would not get a Food Bank delivery. We were able to make more bags which cleaned out the pantry. Our Brumby families were all able to get a food bag and toiletry bag as we were able to make up 15 more with supplies at Brumby. The second to the last car thought we were out of food. The look of horror and despair on her face turned into a sigh of relief when we told her we had three bags left. The need for food is still incredibly high and we are thankful for everyone's support. Even in the pouring down rain and Spring Break vacation there was a large turnout. To say the least, the pantry is almost empty and we will be grateful for all donations.

Hope's Happenings

New visit opportunity at The Table on Delk: http://thetableondelk.org/index.html on Saturdays from 11:00am to 1:00pm.  Our idea is to distribute prayer shawls.

The sex/human trafficking industry in metro Atlanta has grown to nearly $300M annually.  These women, men and children are being forced or trapped into a lifestyle where their lives don’t matter.  They feel that they have few or no choices and most see no way out.  The impact on their lives and the lives of their families has generational implications. The volunteers at The Table on Delk want to help end sexual exploitation in Atlanta.

Please continue to submit your requests for a Zoom visit via the following methods:
  1. Complete the ‘Hope Comfort Dog Request’ form via this link: https://forms.gle/8oknB7haY7VLGgtE9.  When a request is submitted, the information is sent directly to my organizer’s phone.
  2. Call the church office at (770) 973-8877 to set up a visit.  Janice Schaag and Susie Glass are excellent sources for getting this information to my group.
