Sketching Outdoors
Tuesday 5th April 10am -12.30pm
Learn how to create an outdoor sketchbook. Working outdoors for the day, you will learn how to select and record what is in front of you producing a series of sketches using pencils, pens and colour.

Introduction to Shibori
Tuesday 5th April 10am - 4pm
Shibori is the traditional Japanese craft of manipulating fabric to create intricate patterns. Combine this with indigo dyeing to develop wonderful effects in all shades of blue on natural fabrics.

Enjoy this introductory workshop discovering the exciting and versatile technique of eco-printing. This technique uses leaves and flowers to print images on to paper and fabric using steam to transfer the colours.

Spring Wreath

Bring nature into your home and create a gorgeous spring wreath using mixed foliage and flowers. You will learn how to prepare your materials so that they stay fresh for as long as possible, and then how to assemble these to create a beautiful, balanced design.

During this workshop you will make a simple imitation of the Inro and Netsuke (net - sk). This can be hung as a decorative form or given as a gift.

This fun half day workshop will show you how to turn small pieces of glass into quirky birds using copper foil, solder and copper wire to add details such as legs and tail feathers.

Silver jewellery in a day
Tuesday 26th April 10am - 4pm
Spend a day learning simple techniques to produce your own metal jewellery. Create one or two beautiful pieces of
simple jewellery to take home.

Mixed media
Thursday 28th April 10am - 4pm
Using a range of media, including watercolour and inks, pastels and resists, create vibrant and exciting images based on a still life or other subjects. Demonstrations and help from the tutor mean everyone can succeed with these techniques.

Creative glass fusing
Thursday 28th April 10.30am - 3.30pm
Create a large, free-standing and fabulous piece of 3D artwork, using appropriate coloured art glass and inclusions. Along the way you will learn how to cut and handle glass safely and the general principles of glass fusing.

There are a few spaces available on our recently-launched City & Guilds Level 2 Printmaking and Glass courses and the Level 3 Basketry Diploma (exclusive to Westhope College). All courses start in October and course fees may either be paid in full or in instalments. We have some accommodation available in college for those of you who might be travelling a distance to Westhope. If you would like to receive details of any of these courses, email Eileen@westhope.org.uk
