TEAL PROVIDES HIGH-TECH DRONES TO UKRAINE
Teal Drones founder and CEO George Matus believes that reconnaissance drones are vital technology in wartime. Yet Ukrainian forces fighting the battle against the Russian invasion don't have access to the most effective drone technology. The drones most commonly used in these scenarios have a backdoor that the Russians use to track drones in the airspace.

Matus and his team have developed a high-performance reconnaissance drone that can easily fit into a backpack and help keep ground troops safe. Their high-tech drones called "Golden Eagles" can be used as a tool to look around corners or over the next hill. Matus announced just last week that it is going to Ukraine. After securing a second development contract with the U.S. Army, Matus is aiming to get his Golden Eagle drones into the hands of Ukrainian soldiers.

“Teal is one of the only companies in the world that is able to provide that, at scale, now with its technology, manufacturing and resources,” Matus said. “And I have no doubt that the technology will help save a lot of lives.” With companies like Teal, Utah's drone industry continues to innovate and find solutions for critical issues that face our communities both locally and globally.

LEGISLATION OPENS THE SKIES FOR ADVANCED AIR MOBILITY IN UTAH
As a result of the 2022 Utah State Legislative Session, the future of advanced air mobility (AAM) in Utah is brighter than ever before. State Senator Mike Kennedy and State Representative Adam Robertson co-sponsored Senate Bill (SB) 122 Unmanned Aircraft Amendments. SB122 concerns the use and study of an advanced air mobility system. The law requires the Utah Department of Transportation to assemble a working group to identify what existing AAM-related regulations need to be adjusted and/or what future regulations may need to be considered. It also makes significant technical and conforming changes to regulatory policy.

This step is a natural evolution from last year's SB 218 Aviation Amendments, which identified current state assets for the implementation of AAM infrastructure moving forward. Now that the ground work has quite literally been laid, advances in regulatory policy will make the future of transportation possible. Learn more about the legislation below.
