May News Update 2022

AOCS OPPORTUNITIES, INTRODUCTIONS AND WELCOMES

VACANCIES: Please let us know if you are interested in joining the Memberships Team as a volunteer, we have some interesting work envisaged around standards, training, criteria and equivalences, and will need someone who understands supervision well and has an interest in researching into the details for us, to get up to date information we can rely on.  We will be writing a job description for our NEW VACANCIES BLOG on our AOCS Website.

Continuing with our introductions:
Membership Team: Our new Membership Lead for the AOCS Leads Team, Theodora Fitzsimmons, has been brought on board to lead a team that will work on membership from the growing population of Coaching Supervisors from across the globe. With a focus on diversity and inclusion, the leads team will revisit the practices of onboarding, induction and integration, throughout the lifecycle of membership. They will work with and evolve existing systems and processes and will update policies and strategies so that they are better aligned with the trajectory of the profession.

We have also engaged a new Social Media Coordinator, Petra Tiziani. Petra is an award winning conversation maker, who will be part of our team this summer, supporting the work of the AOCS Leads team.

STATEMENT ON THE WAR IN UKRAINE

The AOCS Board wishes to express our support of all peoples impacted by the conflict in Ukraine following the shocking  illegal actions of the Russian State and Military Forces. We unequivocally condemn the unprovoked, sustained and aggressive invasion of Ukraine by the Russian government.

The Board and Leads Team have created a full statement which we would like all our members to read and you can find it here.

CSA SPRING VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

The CSA Spring Conference on 2nd May was hugely enjoyed by all who attended. The day was designed around each participant having three main interactive sessions with abundant networking conversation in between. It was a really worthwhile working space where thought provocation led to new realisations and we are excited to see what ripples spread out from here.

Two of our Board presented, Lorenza Clifford and Jackie Arnold and it was wonderful to see such a high presence of AoCS members. Enormous thanks to Michael Smith for all his organisation and care.

We are delighted to continue the strong relationship between our two organisations.

AOCS Regional Coordinators Creative Collaboration

CALLING ALL OUR REGIONAL COORDINATORS AND POTENTIAL ONES

Two meetings for the Regional Coordinators were held on 13th and 19th May facilitated by, Joanne Searle, the South African RC and Global Coordination Lead. It worked well to offer two meetings at different times on different days to accommodate the different time zones.

We had very engaging conversations with lots of learning from our different geographies and ideas for our roles and regions, and left the meetings feeling upbeat and energised.

Next meetings are 22 June 11-12h00 (CEST + SAST) and 22nd July from 15-16h00 (CEST + SAST) Dateful Timezone Converter and we would like to encourage as many of you that can to please attend. The focus of the sessions continues to give us an opportunity to get to know each other, build on previous discussions, and offering volunteer coordinators a further opportunity to clarify their roles with AoCS and to share their thoughts and experiences on how they are ‘promoting, engaging and developing’ supervision in their geographies. We look forward to connecting again and ‘joining hands’ in this capacity. Contact Joanne to register your attendance.

INTERNATIONAL COACHING WEEK

It's this week!  This week the Leads team and Board met and had a wonderful session getting clearer about our member offer. During our check-in, we shared what we have been doing for International Coaching Week. We thought we would extend this question to all of our members to hear what you have been doing for International Coaching Week using our LinkedIn platform. #ICW2022, #AoCS, #CoachingSupervision
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION REFLECTIVE CIRCLE
Join our next circle on 27th May 2022 @ 7pm SGT
Dateful Timezone Converter

In our last D&I Reflection circle, we (Lorenza and I) were reflecting on how to include more diverse voices in the coaching supervision profession. We came up with two ideas that you can engage in with us:
  • One invitation is to our members who are in a position to staff coaching projects, or get invited to speak at conferences to think about bringing along a lesser known/lesser represented and brilliant coach/supervisor to open up the space for diversity and inclusion in our profession.
  • The other invitation is for you to recommend me people I can interview so that we can showcase coaching supervisors from a diverse background. Please get in touch with me at Felicia Lauw
As always the invitation remains open to our next Reflective Circle to lend your voice on diversity and inclusion on 27th May 2022 (last Friday of the month) at 7pm SGTDateful Timezone Converter Please join us.
