A visit to our district’s only advanced club, Highway to Excellence (HTE) was a trip into the extraordinary talking about the notable things in our life.
In the first prepared speech, Diana talked about change in life, reminding us that it is inevitable. And as her husband, Bob, reminded her, change – it happens. Changes in our life can be either good or bad, planned or unplanned but one thing is for sure, it is inevitable. Because it is inevitable, we should embrace it, plan for it, and make it happen. She talked about changes in her life, but a notable one was when she joined Toastmasters where she made many friends. In the second speech, Chris gave us a speech on aiming high and decisions of a lifetime. He pointed out we make hundreds, if not thousands, of decisions in a day but one decision he made in Sept 1990 stands out. He joined the Air Force during Desert Storm/Desert Shield. This decision helped him learn all basic geometry, squares who were also shirts, and spatial awareness, found in his clothes closet. He also learned about relationships over foosball, and finally, the ability to break dance (a result of a failed circuit breaker) resulting a new nickname, RainMain. But most notably,
