May is Mental Health Awareness Month as well as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is the time for reflection, commemoration, and appreciation.

Counting over 23 million people, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are now the fastest-growing racial group in the United States. It took blood and sweat for our ancestors and families to make their way to America. They have given us the chance to have a different education, career, and life. While some might find it easy to overcome these obstacles, others may develop deep rooted anxiety and traumas. That’s why caring for your own mental wellness is crucial for not only yourself but also your family and friends. 

Let’s take a moment to reflect on the history of YOUR immigration journey and YOUR stories and spend some time with your family to talk about them. KCCEB will host a series of events and groups to celebrate our cultural heritages and raise awareness of our mental wellbeing. Stay tuned for the events below.

5월은 정신건강 인식의 달이며 아시안 태평양인의 문화 유산의 달이기도 합니다. 그러므로 이 달은 과거를 돌아보고 추모하며 감사의 뜻을 전하는 계기로 마련한 시간입니다.

현재 아시아계 미국인들과 태평양계 원주민들의 인구는 2,300만명이 넘으며 미국에서 가장 급성장하고 있습니다. 우리 조상님들은 피와 땀으로 미국에서의 삶을 개척하고 기회의 땅인 미국에서 보다 나은 기회를 후손들에게 물려주기 위해 많은 노력을 하셨습니다. 그러한 가운데 많은 희생과 극복하기 어려운 장애물을 직면하며 심리적 불안과 깊은 트라우마를 겪는 일도 발생하게 되었습니다. 그러므로 자신을 비롯한 친구와 가족들을 위해서라도 본인의 정신 건강을 우선으로 생각하며 스스로 돌보는 일 또한 매우 중요한 일입니다.

잠깐의 여유를 갖고 지나온 이민의 삶과 가족의 삶을 같이 나눠보는 경험을 갖는 것도 좋은 방법일 수 있습니다. 저희 KCCEB에서도 이와 관련 된 아래의 이벤트들을 개최하고 참여함으로써 다시 한번 우리의 유산을 기억하고 정신 건강의 중요성을 알리는데 노력하고 있습니다. 

KCCEB is partnering with Asian Health Services (AHS) to have another Vaccine Clinic on April 28th (3pm-6pm). 1st, 2nd, boosters for all eligible individuals age 5 and up. There will be a $50 Debit Card for anyone ages 5-17, receiving their 1st or 2nd dose only (limited Availability). | 저희 KCCEB 는 아시안 병원과 (AHS) 협력하여 4월 28일 오후 3시-6시에 백신 접종 클리닉을 할 예정입니다. 5세 이상의 자격조건을 갖춘 사람이면 누구나 1차, 2차, 부스터를 접종 받으실 수 있습니다. 5-17세이며 1차 또는 2차 접종을 받으시는 분들에게는 $50 기프트 카드를 드립니다 (한정 수량). 

CDC approved the 2nd COVID-19 vaccine booster shot. This second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna is recommended for people who have a weakened immune system and/or age 50 or older, and can be given 4 months after the first booster of any authorized or approved vaccine. | 최근 질병통제예방센터에서 화이자 또는 모더나의 두 번째 코로나 부스터 접종을 승인했습니다. 2차 부스터 백신은 면역 체계가 약한 사람들과 50세 이상의 사람들에게 권장되며, 승인된 백신의 1차 부스터 접종일로부터 4개월 이후에 접종받을 수 있습니다.

Starting May 1st, Medi-cal is being expanded to everyone who meets the following basic eligibility regardless of immigration status (including those who are undocumented).

Mental Health Asian Pipeline (MHAP) Program provides comprehensive mental health training with an emphasis on culturally relevant practices, advocacy, and innovation. Five interns will graduate from KCCEB this June and move on to pursue their dreams. We thank them for their contribution to the community and wish them well for creating a more culturally inclusive environment. 
정신건강 파이프라인 프로그램은 문화적으로 적합한 치유방법, 지원 그리고 혁신을 중점적으로 강조하는 상담사 트레이닝 프로그램입니다. KCCEB 에서 인턴으로 활동했던 다섯분의 인턴들이 올 6월에 졸업을 하고 그들이 가지고 있는 꿈을 향해 다가갑니다. 저희는 그 분들이 커뮤니티에 이바지하고 좀 더 나은 문화적 포용을 위해 공헌한 노력에 감사를 드립니다.
