Making Art and Breaking Hearts

You're still here (and so am I).

If you've recently subscribed, thank you. And thank you to anyone who hasn't unsubscribed yet. It means a lot to me that you'd let me into your inbox like this. I know it's a sacred space for some.

Why an eNewsletter?

Good question. I began toying with the idea of an eNewsletter a few months ago. Email marketing happens to be part of my day job, so I know its value as a communication tool. And well, it seems well suited for what I want to do, which is to connect with people. That's you!

I've always been a big fan of the highly-visual Instagram but it's a changing platform which seems geared towards Tiktokers and Influencers. An email feels like a better vehicle for this kind of thing. It's intimate.

While I do have a blog and every intention of maintaining it again (someday), the appeal of an eNewsletter is the idea that I'm almost talking to you face-to-face. Also, not to mention, some of what I want to share here may be things I don't want to put on social media. Meaning: it'll be exclusive content. That's right! All for you!

What exclusive content?

If you were familiar with my Instagram feed, you'd know that it was fun and irreverent. There was little I took very seriously, and that included myself! Life has changed since then, and so has my artwork. Having looked through my posts a few weeks ago, I realized that I no longer relate to that woman and her content. So I deleted it all. *nervous silence*

Mom visiting a petting farmSince September of 2021, I've been illustrating my adventures in mental health while caring for my mom who is living with dementia. I've also been documenting her journey through photographs and writing. It's been a busy and challenging year, and the challenges are far from over, but they're currently a little more manageable.

Suffice to say, I have a lot of work and nowhere to put it!

My hope for this eNewsletter is that it makes me accountable to myself and the work. And I'll probably not share everything here, but I'll include bits 'n' bobs and updates on what happens next. And who knows what that will be, but I hope you'll stick around to find out!

We made it!

Thanks for reading and see you next time!
