1. Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) Workshop, Register by April 26 at 4pm

Friday, April 29, 9am – 3:30pm

Want to improve your online or hybrid course?  You can learn more about course design through the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric.  You will learn how to apply Quality Matters standards to your courses. Register by Tuesday, April 26th at 4pm by emailing Amy Pawlosky (amypawlo@iusb.edu)


2. UCET’s Celebration of Teaching on May 4

You did it! You made it through another year! Let’s celebrate!

Wednesday, May 4  (yes,, Star Wars Day) from 12:30-2:00pm
Location:  Education & Arts Building Patio

UCET wants to recognize your successful teaching moments both public (such as winning a teaching award) and private (that one time you inspired that one student to do that one thing). Stop by the EA patio anytime from 12:30 – 2:00 on Wednesday, May 4 (yes, Star Wars Day) for a sweet treat and an opportunity to share your teaching victories. May the (teaching) Force be with you!

3. UCET Dossier Prep Groups: Senior Lecturer, Teaching Professor, Tenure, Full Professor, Senior Clinical Lecturer, Associate Clinical Professor 

If you will be submitting a dossier for promotion to Senior Lecturer, Teaching Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Senior Clinical Lecturer, or Associate Clinical Professor in August 2022, you are invited to join a UCET-sponsored group that can help you put together a dossier that presents your case in the best light possible. If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact Elaine Roth, UCET Career Mentor, elaroth@iusb.edu

4. Save the Date!! Teach, Play, Learn Conference, June 24
 
 
Teach, Play, Learn (TPL) is IU’s annual conference on game-based teaching and learning. This year’s presentations will focus on real-life usage, empirical studies, and theoretical discussions. We’re particularly interested in interactive workshops involving best practices for teaching with games or playful elements in the classroom.

Possible topics include:
• Board, card, or video games for educational purposes
• Gamification of the course
• Simulations and role playing
• Augmented and/or virtual reality (AR and/or VR)
• Study and research of games in the context of education


 For more details, visit the TPL website and be sure to save the date, June 24, 2022 for the conference.


5. FACET Nominations are due May, 15th

Nominate a colleague for FACET. Just send an email with the name of the nominee to our campus Associate Director, Anna Savvopoulou, at annsavvo@iusb.edu. You do not need to be a member of FACET to submit a nomination. More here

1. IU Online 2022 UPCEA Annual Conference REACH 

Mark your calendar for the virtual 2022 UPCEA Annual Conference REACH, which takes place May 3–4. The conference features deep dives into the most pressing issues facing professional, continuing, and online education. Register before April 27 to be able to attend  this conference virtually for free. 


2.  Apply to be a Digital Gardener Faculty Fellow for Fall 2022

Faculty: Help cultivate digital literacy across IU

Be one of 35 IU faculty in the Digital Gardener Faculty Fellows Program Fall 2022 cohort and work to incorporate digital ways of knowing, doing, and making into your curriculum. Faculty will build individual skills, develop curriculum materials, and work collaboratively with others across campuses and disciplines.

Fellows will receive a stipend for participation. Open to all full-time faculty, regardless of rank, discipline, or campus (part-time faculty who are full-time IU employees may also apply). Deadline to apply is May 3.

3. Indiana University Southeast Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference Call for Submissions


Date: September 23, 2022

The 6th annual IUS Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference invites proposals for presentations on teaching and learning representing personal classroom experiences as well as SoTL research. Topics can include but are not limited to: classroom applications of SoTL theories, stories from the teaching front, classroom experiments or studies that you have undertaken, teaching toolbox favorites (especially ones that you have adapted for particular purposes), and SoTL scholarship in progress or conclusions from your research.

This conference is offered on Zoom and completely free for your faculty.

Proposals should be submitted by: Midnight, May 20, 2022

4. IU Continuing the Conversation webinars

Teaching online? Tune into the Continuing the Conversation webinars to find out how your colleagues across the campuses and disciplines are making their courses more engaging. Join us for four monthly sessions this spring, starting January 28. Use the registration links after each webinar to sign up. Each session starts at 1pm eastern time.

    • Recognizing faculty and staff who have gone above and beyond in assisting students during these very difficult times
