Monday, April 18, 2020 - In an overwhelming 15 - 3 vote, the Bridgeport City Council passed the Empowered City Council Act! Taken from the People's Platform, this ordinance staffs our 20 member City Council with the support it needs to be a strong and independent branch of local government, including:
✅ Independent Legal Council (separate from the Mayor's City Attorney's office)
✅ Up to 5 Legislative Liaisons (to assist the Council with constituent services, research and development of resolutions and ordinances, etc.)
✊🏿✊🏿 Thank you to Council President, Aidee Nieves and Councilman Tyler Mack of the 131st district for your leadership sponsoring ECCA and your hard work getting it over the finish line.
We'd also like to thank the Ordinance Committee and champions of ECCA!

Bridgeporters are ready for a better government! Working together on the People's Platform, we can restore democracy to our city and build Beloved Bridgeport.
In Bridgeport, there's always some deal maker insisting we've got to "play the game." Go to 0:50 secs to see "Mario's Game."
It's is a system of abuse - but we don't have to stand for it!
