Mark O'Conner Duo
Friday, May 20, 8pm
Hamilton High School Senior, Lauran Roberts, is presenting this concert in partnership with the Bitterroot Performing Arts Council. The proceeds from this event go to fighting human trafficking and MMIP (missing & murdered indigenous people) in the State of Montana. Human trafficking is a multi-billion dollar criminal business that denies freedom from over 25 million people across the world. Traffickers are especially targeting Native women and children in Montana, and there is little to no knowledge about it. Last year alone there were 5,590 Native women that went missing. Montana has one of the lowest populations in the nation, yet it has the fifth highest missing cases for Native women. This state faces a rampant problem with violence against Native American women. Trafficking has increased in Montana by 871% since 2015.
