Assalamu alaykum,

We have 3 updates to share with you in today's newsletter:

(1) Support Your Masjid Today: we need your help to reach our goal to sustain our operations for the rest of the year.

(2) Ramadan at AMA: we are excited to offer in-person and virtual programs for the entire family to participate in. 

(3) Earth Day 2022: participate in Earth Day on April 22 and do our part in protecting the environment!

#1. Support Your Masjid Today!

We would like to thank all of the donors who have supported us throughout this entire pandemic. We encourage you to continue to support your masjid.

#2. Ramadan at AMA!

Throughout the month of Ramadan, our team is planning in-person and virtual activities for you and your family to partake in.

#2a. Families in Ramadan - Halaqa with Sh. Navaid Aziz

AMA is proud to present a special halaqa for families with Sh. Navaid Aziz!

Sh. Navaid Aziz is a graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah and is the Director of Public Relations and Instructor at AlMaghrib Institute, the world's largest English speaking Islamic Institute. He is also currently the Director of Religious and Social Services for the Islamic Information Society of Calgary, serves as a youth and family counsellor, and was the first ever Muslim chaplain with the Calgary Police Services in 2015.

#2b. Youth Talk with Sh. Navaid Aziz

AMA is proud to present Youth Talk with Sh. Navaid Aziz followed by a Q&A session. The goal of this halaqa is to provide Muslim youth an opportunity to explore Islam and discuss their faith in an intellectual setting that encourages questions and critical thinking.

Sh. Navaid Aziz is a graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah and is the Director of Public Relations and Instructor at AlMaghrib Institute, the world's largest English speaking Islamic Institute.

This is an opportunity you do not want to miss out on!

#2c. Potluck Iftar for Sisters

Looking forward to breaking fast with your sisters after a very long pandemic? Join us at AMA Centre for a Sisters Iftar Potluck on Friday, April 15.

We have many activities planned for you, including games and a halaqa!

Spots are limited, so signup now!

Ages: Sisters 13 - 18

Further information: Once you register, you will receive an email with the link to the spreadsheet for you to enter what items you intend to bring for the potluck.

On the day of the event, we request you bring a list of ingredients used to make your dish (for the safety of people with food sensitivities).

#2d. Living a Life of Qur'an

Are you a sister who is interested in fostering a closer connection with the Quran? 

The Living a Life of Quran series aims to create a supportive atmosphere for sisters to learn the meaning of the Quran together. 

This series will be guided by the tafsir recordings of the AlMaghrib instructor, Ustada Taimiyyah Zubair. We will continue learning Surah Zukhruf together. 

Sisters will be encouraged to listen to the tafsir recordings before each session, then we will go through the material together and discuss how we can connect them to our own personal lives! We will also have a kahoot at the end!

Recommended age: All sisters who are interested in learning the Quran are welcome regardless of their age!

#2e. How to Memorize the Qur'an with Shaykh Ehab

Do you find yourself struggling to memorize the Qur'an? Want to learn better ways to retain the parts of the Qur'an you have already memorized? If you answered yes, we have the perfect program for you!

Join us after Asr every Friday during Ramadan to learn from the vast experience of Shaykh Ehab Teima, who has successfully trained countless Hufaath, to learn how we can memorize the Quran more easily and efficiently.

#2f. The 40 Hadith of Imam Nawawi Halaqa

Join us as we go through the life changing 40 hadith compiled by Imam An-Nawawi with Shaykh Ismail, Imam of Masjid Ar-Rahmah. These narrations cover a comprehensive array of key aspects of our faith that the great Imam believed everyone should know.

The lectures will take place every Saturday and Sunday after Dhuhr salah during the month of Ramadan in-person at Masjid Ar-Rahmah  In addition, for those not able to make it physically, especially if you are outside Ottawa, we will be sharing the event via YouTube.

Furthermore,  watch out for our competition after Ramadan that will cover the content of the lectures and have lots of prizes to be won (details coming soon).

#2i. Tafsir of Surah Al Fatiha & Ad-Duhaa till An-Nas

AMA is pleased to offer you a program that will help you reflect and internalize the message of the Qur'an this Ramadan. We will be uploading the tafsir of Surah Al-Fatiha and Surah Ad-Duhaa to Surah An-Nas everyday in the holy month of Ramadan.

#3. Earth Day 2022

Environmental stewardship is an integral part of Islam. Being a khalifa (or guardian), a person should take all necessary steps to ensure that the entrusted property is passed on to the next generation in as pure a form as possible. As custodians of the nature and environment, we must live with harmony with other creatures. It is the duty of all Muslims to respect, nurture and care for the environment.

Join us on April 22, 2022, to participate in Earth day and do our best to please Allah (SWT) and care for the Earth!
