Perched upon the throne of business without written word, I would find myself reviewing the contents of my wallet; or, trying to pronounce the names of chemicals contained in aerosol cans of hairspray, disinfectants, and drain cleaners; or, practicing simple math challenges by counting floor tiles. As everyone knows, there’s never much to do except wait, until the moment has surely passed.
Fortunately, somewhere between the Early to Middle Bronze Age (3000 BC - 2001 BC), and the Tang Dynasty (618 - 906 A.D.), a disregarded scroll was left behind on a commode, and thus, the creation of the - “Little Toilet Tank Library”.
My father’s penetralia emancipation chamber was in our basement. It had a library including: Chainsaw Repair, Anatomy of Witchcraft, Reader's Digest, Soldier of Fortune, Warshawsky Auto Parts Catalogs, Bernard Wolfe’s - Really the Blues, AMC Rambler Shop Manual, and a Living Catholic Bible.
Whether soaking his carcass, or unleashing Barbarians pushing at the gate - dad was prepared.
An LTTL should provide options when life does not.
What’s the condition of your Little Toilet Tank Library? A thunderbox athenaeum of relaxation and enjoyment, or an oubliette of illiteracy and despair?
Now is the time to refresh your comfort station’s media center.
