Colette Pichon Battle: “Placed Here, In This Calling”
– From On Being with Krista Tippett

“To really admit climate—to really, really admit that you understand what is happening to the planet—it will break your heart.

If you don’t cry deep, hard tears for the state of this planet and all of the people on it, you don’t yet understand the problem.

And once you get to that place, the only thing that can bring you out of that kind of darkness is belief in something greater than yourself.

And for me, it is that spiritual connection. For me, it is understanding a greater purpose.

And then your job becomes less about passing a piece of legislation and more about making a better world.”

Project updates

  • 🌱 Experiments in sustainability and vitality

It’s no secret that most people (especially people working in climate) are tussling with burnout. As part of our work to collectively embody the world we’re looking to build, our organization has been experimenting with practices for rest, grounding, and renewal.

Last month, that meant an experimental weeklong “pause” around the equinox. Stepping back from meetings, email, and day-to-day program execution, we created quieter and deeper space to root, connect, learn, create, and vision.

A few learnings from this experiment:

    • On intention-setting

We began with intention-setting: What is your core intention for the upcoming equinox week? How will you use the time in alignment with our mission? It felt helpful to keep the boundaries wide enough for each person to discern what they needed, but clear enough to be able to ground in a collective purpose.

    • On looking inward & forward

Our team found it very helpful to step out of the typical flow of work and have space to reflect deeply on why we do this work and what our deepest commitments are. Most of us spent time with core texts, letting insights infuse our thinking about the work to come.

Is your organization experimenting with practices for sustainability and vitality? What’s working?

  • ☀️ Updates on our work

It’s been just over a year since The All We Can Save Project got rolling with our first dedicated team members. In that time, we’ve learned so much about what our super powers are, how we can best serve the movement, and where to draw boundaries with work that is valuable but isn’t ours to pursue.

We’ve shared our evolved program framework on our website — the areas we’re focused on, recognizing emergence continues:

  • 📍Upcoming course alert

We’re launching a five-session first-of-its-kind Climate Wayfinding course, designed to support people in discovering or clarifying their unique place in climate work. The course will run on Tuesdays, June 28–July 26. We’ll send out an email to this newsletter with more details when applications open later this month.
