Celebrate spring with these upcoming events

April 21: Join us at the Stick Figure Open Mic.

Parisian Phoenix staff (publisher Angel Ackerman, poet Darrell Parry, editor Nancy Scott and authors/artists TBD) will attend the Stick Figure Open Mic in support of National Poetry Month. The recurring event occurs on the third Thursday of the month at Mary Meuser Memorial Library, 1803 Northampton Street, Easton, PA, 18042, at 7 p.m. All types of performers welcome. The event takes place in the library “Annex.”

Darrell Parry and daughter, Eva, founded the open mic and publish the quarterly online publication, Stick Figure Poetry Journal, stickfigurepoetry.com.

Parisian Phoenix staff will have copies of Darrell’s poetry book, Twists: Gathered Ephemera, and the anthology Not an Able-Bodied White Man with Money, which features Darrell’s poem, "Small and Crooked," and Eva’s essays. Books can be purchased for $10 each, cash or credit card.

In other news, Parisian Phoenix plans to record audio at the open mic as a test for their potential upcoming podcast. Angel has mapped out an entire season of potential episodes, with each opening with an audio recording of a portion of a specific Parisian Phoenix title and then hosting a discussion about the actual craft of writing using that segment as a conversation starter.

Other upcoming events include:
MAY 14: CHESTER COUNTY STUDIO TOUR, ARTIST HEATHER PASQUALINO

Heather is the artist whose work appears on the cover of Not an Able-Bodied White Man with Money. Parisian Phoenix founders Angel Ackerman and Gayle Hendricks will join Heather at her studio to sell books. Her studio is located at 1637 Jones Avenue/Lane, Phoenixville, PA, 19460. The studio tour includes 67 studios and more than 100 artists.
JUNE 25: GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY WRITERS GROUP, TALK BY JOAN ZACHARY ON PHOTOGRAPHY IN BOOKS
Joan is the photographer-in-residence at Parisian Phoenix. Her photographs appear in Not an Able-Bodied White Man with Money and on the cover and in the text of Trapped, a contemporary romance by Seneca Blue. Her talk, with support from Angel Ackerman, publisher, and Gayle Hendricks, art director, will encourage writers to explore photography and its potential role in their books.
