Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is one of the best ways to protect us all and COVID safe behaviours continue to be very important too.

To stop the spread and help keep everyone safe, stay home if you or anyone in your family are sick, get tested as soon as symptoms appear, continue with good hand hygiene, and physically distance  when in crowded public indoor places.

Direction update: Changes to mask and QR code check-in requirements

From 12.01am on 15 April 2022, changes to mask and QR code check in requirements will come into effect.

Masks will be required in hospitals and community health care, residential aged care facilities, disability care facilities, airports and airplane, correctional facilities, pharmacies and passenger transport (including taxis and rideshare).

QR code check-ins will only be required in hospitals and residential and disability care facilities.

COVID marshals will only be required for COVID Management Plan events, which means pubs, cafes, shops will no longer need a COVID marshal.

More information will be available at www.covid-19.sa.gov.au shortly.

Are you planning an interstate trip these school holidays?

Before you leave, check the health and travel advice for the state or territory you are travelling to.

If you catch COVID-19 while interstate, you cannot return to SA until your isolation period has finished.

If you are a close contact while interstate, you must follow the close contact guidelines before returning to SA.

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms while you’re interstate, get tested immediately and isolate until you have a result showing you do not have COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccinations winter dose

As the weather gets colder and we have less restrictions, its easier for germs to spread and people to get sick with COVID-19, colds and the flu.

A winter dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is now available for people who are the most at risk of getting very sick.

People in the below groups are encouraged to have an extra dose before winter to protect against getting very sick:
  • Aboriginal people aged 50 years and older
  • People aged 16 years and older with severe immunocompromise
  • Residents of disability care facilities.

The winter dose is available at SA Health vaccination clinics, participating doctors and pharmacies at least 4 months after your first booster dose or after having COVID-19.

The winter dose is optional, and you can have it at the same time as your yearly flu vaccine.

Staying up to date with your vaccinations is the best way to protect yourself from getting very sick from COVID-19 and the flu.
