2. Masks are still effective protection for a range of respiratory diseases, so a good idea to wear them if you can’t social distance indoors.
1. If you’re unwell, please stay home.
Whatever your reason for celebrating Easter, please be safe and remember these key messages:
As we go into the long Easter Weekend, we would like to wish you all a safe and enjoyable break with your family and friends. For Christians around the world, this time is all about a second chance in life, a new beginning through Jesus Christ. For many of our tamaiti and even adults, it’s about the hunt for Easter eggs hidden by the Easter bunny.
This Pasifika Post clarifies what Orange means and other relevant health messages.
You would’ve woken up this morning to New Zealand being in Orange after the announcement from Minister Chris Hipkins yesterday.

If you have a 16-17 year old, check that it has been 6 months since Dose 2, then they can get their booster too!
There is now a new online tool to help you work out your isolation period. To our young people, please help our matua:
Enter the date you developed symptoms, or the date you tested positive (whichever came first) to find out when you can leave self-isolation. If you still have symptoms, you should stay at home until 24 hours after they resolve.

Pacific Vaccination Coverage as at 3 April 2022
We have had many of our Pacific asking for ethnic-specific data. Here’s is a page sourced from the Ministry of Health website which may be of interest to you.
Interestingly are the following points:
- Tokelauan and Cook Island Maori populations have the lowest vaccination coverage of the Pacific communities.
- For the vaccinations of our 5-11 year old children, Cook Island Maori, Niuean and Pacific ethnicities Not further defined have the least uptake.
- Very little movement has occurred in the booster programme.
- Booster uptake is the lowest for the at risk age group of 50-64 years in Tongan (68%), Other Pacific (73%) and Pacific further defined (72%).This may reflect the high case numbers in the Pacific population and not being able to receive a booster until 3 months after recovery.
