Easter Day

Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord’; and she told them that he had said these things to her. John 20. 18

Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.
Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ:
he has given us new life and hope
by raising Jesus from the dead.
God has claimed us as his own:
He has made us light to the world.
Alleluia. Christ is risen.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia.

Prayer
Awakened One
source of inner power
restorer of tombed vitality
giver of graced gusto

you who have been raised
from the cold stone of death
come and resurrect me
from my own entombment

repair what has weakened
in my spiritual endeavours
revive my mildewed
cobwebbed relationships

lift up my waning hope
when I wail with the world's pain
(and) restore my sense of oneness
with all your creation. Amen.         By Joyce Rupp

A prayer for Ukraine:
God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion
to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Amen

Initiative by the Scots Kirk

Christ Church has been contacted by the Scots Kirk concerning an initiative that it is setting up. The context is that a number of families in and around Lausanne are hosting or planning to host refugees from the war in the Ukraine. The Scots Kirk wants to help by providing a space in St Andrew’s House for them to gather a few afternoons a week, to meet others in the same situation and perhaps learn some French and get advice on living in Lausanne.

The plan is to make this initially two afternoons a week (Thursday and Sunday) starting on 28 April.. The Scots Kirk already has a number of volunteers and there are other interested parties from Our Lady of Faith. At the outset, this initiative will be funded by donations and from the Kirk’s own funds. And so the questions for the members of Christ Church are as follows:

  1. Do you want to be involved with this initiative?

  2. If you do, could you become a volunteer to help with a rota of staff for the two afternoons? (Training will be given but initially they just need people to welcome and be available.)

  3. Do you have any experience of dealing with refugees? For example, they need expertise in teaching basic French.

  4. Could you donate of money or clothes to help resource the Day Centre? They are also looking for donations of basic laptops, phone chargers and a television.

If you are interested and can help in any way, please contact the Rev. Gillean Maclean at:

The Manse, Avenue de Rumine 26, 1005 Lausanne
