SBRI funding success
We are delighted with today’s news that two companies we’ve been supporting have been awarded funding by SBRI Healthcare to help to help Reset and Recovery and new ways of working, which includes tackling Mental Health Inequalities in Children and Young People.
The awards will see Dr Julian and Definition Health each running a nine-month project, with the aim to implement their technology in a real-world environment, building evidence for future uptake and scale up.

Huntington’s Disease: Service Model Co-Production
A project involving KSS AHSN has developed a new service model that aims to improve care and support for people with Huntington’s disease.
The collaborative project involving Surrey Heartlands, KSS AHSN, Roche Products Ltd. and the Huntington’s Disease Association aimed to build on existing services to develop a fit-for-purpose service model providing equitable care.

Restore2 training in Kent and Medway
A series of free training and support that can help care settings to improve residents’ quality of care is now available across Kent and Medway.
Led by Dr Kim Gardiner, frailty lead for Kent and Medway, and delivered by Kent Surrey Sussex Patient Safety Collaborative (KSS PSC) RESTORE2 can support homes and health professional to recognise when a resident may be deteriorating or at risk of physical deterioration, and act appropriately according to the resident’s care plan to protect and manage the resident.

Join the KSS AHSN team
There's still time to apply to join our wonderful Patient Safety Collaborative team as a Programme Manager - but only just, applications need to be in by midnight on April 18!
One role is within our Maternity and Neonatal workstream, while the other is for our Systems Safety workstream. Both posts will support each other and the wider team in enabling collective QI capacity and capability building across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

SBRI cancer programme open to applications
Applications are now open for the SBRI cancer programme competition 2, which launched on 5 April. The competition is delivered in partnership with NHS England and NHS Improvement’s cancer programme.
This £15million competition invites applications for funding to implement solutions in late-stage development into front-line settings to improve early detection and diagnosis of cancer.
The deadline for applications is 24 May 2022.

NICE Lipid Management Pathway
The clinical pathway for lipid management has now been updated to include bempedoic acid to primary prevention and Inclisiran into the secondary prevention pathway. This pathway unifies multiple NICE guidance and technology appraisals into a single document to support clinical decision making on lipid management, supporting the NHS Long Term Plan’s ambitions for cardiovascular disease prevention and to improve patient outcomes.

Mental Health Competition
The NIHR Trauma MIC is running a competition as part of its new Mental Health (PTSD) workstream. The competition invites applications for medical devices/ technologies addressing the prevention and/ or management of the psychological impact of traumatic physical injury.
Any medical device-based solution for any psychological impact of traumatic physical injury will be considered. Up to three projects will be awarded in-kind support to the value of £15,000. Applications are encouraged from SME’s and individuals working for either HEIs or NHS Trusts.

Health Technology Regulatory and Innovation Programme Application Guide
If you are an SME working in HealthTech, you can apply for up to £30,000 of funding for use with regulatory affairs providers, to help you navigate regulatory pathways.
On behalf of Innovate UK, CPI and ABHI have developed the Health Technology Regulatory and Innovation Programme to support small and medium-sized (SME) businesses to navigate the complex and ever-changing HealthTech regulatory landscape.
The programme will support SMEs that rely on external expertise to commercialise new products, or re-register existing products in-line with new regulatory requirements.

NIHR ARCs milestone

Implementing the latest NICE approved Lipid Management Pathway

This webinar has been organised by the South East Academic Health Science Networks (KSS, Oxford and Wessex) and is open to all Multi-Disciplinary Health Care Professionals/clinicians and programme managers working within these regions with an interest or role in lipid management.
It's the first in a series of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) education sessions that will be delivered across the South East region throughout 2022/23. It will provide an overview of the AHSN Network national lipids optimisation programme, which aims to work closely with NHS Trusts and primary & secondary care services to improve the management of cholesterol, increase the detection of those with Familial Hypercholesterolaemia and optimise the use of all medicines for patients on the cholesterol management pathway.
