And so begins the next set of voices...

From the Director's Desk:  We are happy to share that today is day 30 of our 90-day Speaker Training Experience with seven formerly incarcerated individuals. Each was chosen for their successful reintegration into life outside the prison system. This program is in partnership with the University of San Diego (aligned with the National Center for Restorative Justice) and the San Diego Diocese. These talks are intended to shift the perspective surrounding incarcerated individuals and highlight the critical importance of restorative justice

One of the most significant things I have personally experienced about this project is the transformation already occuring for the volunteers supporting our participants. Access to a deeper compassion for the human beings we are working with is abundant and remarkable. I look forward to spreading that transformative compassion to the audience who listens to these talks.

Similar to Amplify's inaugural event - Triumph Over Trafficking and Sexual Abuse - this program will culminate in a live, stage event. The event is open to the public and will be live-streamed so make sure to mark your calendar for June 11th! More information to come.

I know this can be a challenging topic for some to consider. And aligned to the mission of Amplify, we raise up the voices of those who are silenced or misunderstood. Those formerly incarcerated definitely fit this vision. Already, I can confidently say, those who invest the time to watch these talks in June are in for a moving and powerful afternoon

This past Tuesday we also started our 3rd Speaker Circle for women touched by sexual assault and trafficking. It is certainly an exciting season of growth for Amplify. Thank you for your support and being part of our community!

Gratefully,
Amanda Schneider

What excites you about the work Amplify is doing?
The Speaker Circles and its new Communities of Focus are incredibly important to help survivors of trauma stay engaged and connected with each other and their communities. Community awareness is critical to inciting lasting change, so helping individuals who have been oppressed, silenced, or misunderstood be heard, is not only an excellent idea, but is a fantastic strategy to influence the greater community.
Why did you make a financial contribution to Amplify?
Because of the message and how it was being conveyed. The women at Amplify are paving the way for others to overcome challenges associated with living through adversity and become truly confident, empowered women. All these efforts take financing for staff and office supplies, digital and physical form outreach, community polling and outreach and so much more. To keep the mission alive and help Amplify continue its work, I highly encourage everyone reading this to donate or volunteer. After all, there is no community without YOU!

Speaker's Corner

Even the most experienced speakers get nervous. Often, the more you try to hide your nervousness, the more it comes through. What if you admitted you were nervous? This small show of vulnerability can endear you to your audience and will help you feel more at ease. So acknowledge and move on because the message you have to deliver deserves the full attention of your audience!

Amplify brings voices to transform our world and we cannot do it without you.
