Your Community Shop continues to trade strongly thanks to all its wonderful volunteers.  We have a good range of everyday items and are always open to suggestions for other items we might stock, though of course we have to take account of our limited shelf and storage space.
We now have a selection of pot plants as well as our usual range of New Forest ice creams, hot drinks, cakes and savoury snacks.  We are also taking orders for locally made coasters to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee at the beginning of next month.

Do drop by to give us your support and see what we’ve got.
We're always on the lookout for anyone who might like to volunteer to work in the shop or behind the scenes to help manage our stock.  We give all the training and help you require so there is no need to be afraid! It is a most rewarding and enjoyable thing to do, it is neither difficult or onerous, need not take up more than a couple of hours or so a week and you meet lots of nice people!
If you are interested do get in touch with a Committee member who can tell you more and whose contact details are on the
village website.  Or you can collect a form from the shop, download one from the village website or just leave your name in the shop.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Tea on Minstead Village Green.  Sunday 5th June 3.30pm - 5.30pm.

Thank you to all the Minstead Residents for registering your interest in the Jubilee Celebrations.  An Invitation and further information will be sent to you within the next few days.

A Buffet Tea will be provided with celebration cake and a glass of fizz.  There is no charge for permanent Minstead residents and additional family members may attend only with prior notification at a charge of £5 each.

If you have not returned your Expression of Interest Form and wish to come to the party  please contact helenbennettpc@yahoo.com within the next day or so.

Help shape Hampshire’s new Local Transport Plan

The County Council is asking for views on a draft Local Transport Plan (LTP4) that aims to support the county’s economic prosperity, decarbonise the transport system, and help people in Hampshire live healthy lives

The LTP4 will define the future of travel and transport in Hampshire to 2050. If adopted, it would guide the County Council’s transport and travel infrastructure planning and design in favour of improving travel choices for people by transforming and widening the appeal of walking, cycling and use of public transport.

The plan proposes transformational changes which:

  • Shift away from planning for vehicles, towards planning for people and places
  • Reduce reliance on private car travel
  • Support economic development and regeneration
  • Meet national priorities to decarbonise the transport system
  • Promote active lifestyles

The consultation runs until 26 June 2022 and people can take part at Click HERE

Subject to the results of the consultation the new Local Transport Plan is expected to be adopted by early 2023.

Council Tax rebate

NFDC have started making payments of the £150 Council Tax rebate.

The government announced the £150 rebate as support for the rising cost of energy bills.

Households in Council Tax bands A to D, who paid their April instalment by Direct Debit, do not need to take any action at the moment. You should receive the rebate in the bank account you use to pay Council Tax by the end of April.

If you are in Council Tax bands A to D, but don’t pay Council Tax by Direct Debit, or if NFDC are unable to make the direct payment, they will write to you by the end of April and invite you to make a claim to receive the payment into your bank or on to your Council Tax account. This payment should reach you by the end of May.

Be scam aware: They would never call and ask for bank details over the phone in order to receive the Council Tax Energy Rebate. If you get a call like this, hang up and report the scam to the police on 101, or to Action Fraud ( Click HERE

Household Rubbish

Over the last few weekends there have been bags ripped open on a Sunday afternoon where residents have put the bags outside their property. The commoners defence association publicised this memo for residents within the New Forest :

If you live within an area accessible to #NewForest livestock please keep rubbish and recycling inside your gate on collection day.  It’s vital you do not place anything outside your gate that commoners’ animals may eat or drink. This can draw animals to the roads, may cause them injury and changes their natural foraging behaviours.  This is particularly important during pannage season - when pigs are released into the Forest – due to the risks associated with African Swine Fever. More info Click HERE .
Please help us protect local livestock and keep your community litter free.

Litterpick

Please note that the litterpick has had to be moved to Tuesday May 24th Meet at Andrew's Mare car park at 10am
.   Any queries  please call Tessa on 07958 727369

Reduce waste and recycle more

Hampshire County Council’s Smart Living website has lots of information on how you can make the most of items in your home, save money, and protect the environment: Click HERE

This website includes :

  • help finding local charity shops, and repair and reuse sites where you can take your unwanted items, such as textiles, toys and furniture. Some locations also accept small or large electrical items, like kitchen appliances, hair dryers, watches and washing machines
  • tips on selling your unwanted items on online community groups and websites like Freecycle, Preloved, and Gumtree
  • links to local repair cafés, such as Lymington repair café and Totton repair café. You can take broken household items, and sometimes clothes to repair cafés where volunteers will fix them for a small donation. You can also find guides on the Smart Living website to help you make simple repairs yourself.
  • advice on how to cut down on unwanted junk mail. For example, you can sign up to the Royal Mail’s Opt-Out service to stop all unaddressed mail being delivered to you: Click HERE

We’re planning to recycle more in the New Forest in the future. We currently collect empty aerosols, cans, tins, plastic bottles, card, and paper in your clear recycling sacks. We also collect glass bottles and jars of all shapes and sizes from your glass collection box, or communal glass bin if you live in flats. For more information Click HERE
