Clean Up and Out Day |
Saturday, April 30 from 12pm to 4pm we will have a “clean up and out day” at the Water Street property. We are hoping to get as many people as possible to help for at least some of the time that day. There will be plenty of things to do (not all heavy work). This is as we prepare to move forward with combining the 2 churches. Many thanks to Julie Rundlett and the worship and music team for the cleaning, sorting and transporting of hymnals and music from Wesley, and to Leslie and Charlie for doing a total clean out and painting of the small room downstairs which will be used for education office and storage. PLEASE: Many hands make light (and faster) work. We will have snacks and drinks available. Thanks, Dini |

“Everything you wanted to know about prayer but were afraid to ask!” |
Do you sometimes have trouble praying? Do you wonder why we bother praying? Do you know to whom we should pray – God? Jesus? the Holy Spirit? Or maybe you’re not sure how to pray. If any of these apply to you, then come join us on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 8:00 PM on zoom and learn answers to these questions, spend time with friends, and have fun and stimulating discussions. Hope to see you there! Week 1 – What is prayer? What are the different kinds of prayer? Week 2 – Why do we pray? Why don’t we pray? Week 3 – To whom should we pray? What do we do when we can ‘t pray? Week 4 – How should we pray? Bonnie-jean Rowe is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Save the Date for Family Promise Metrowest’s 13th Annual Walk to End Homelessness |
Grab your sneakers, strollers, and leashes and help us raise funds to end family homelessness in our Metrowest community. This year we are met once again with the challenge of how to safely hold our annual Walk to End Homelessness. We have decided once again to create a decentralized event that encourages registrants to walk with family and friends in their own communities on the weekend of May 13-15. Many of our congregations used this opportunity last year to bring their community together and host a luncheon, cookout, or coffee hour before they took off for their walk to raise awareness and funding for our family’s facing homelessness. We are also making tentative plans to hold an in-person event on the TJX Corp. Campus in Framingham Sunday, May 15, if circumstances allow such gatherings. If so, walkers will be able to walk on the recently opened Cochituate Rail Trail to reach the event. We will have our sponsors, vendor booths and fun activities for people of all ages. The congregations are the backbone of who we are and how we began. We would love to have a group from each congregation sign up to walk. This is a fun, family day of walking with a purpose. Please consider joining a team with fellow members of your congregations and help us have a record number of walkers the weekend of May 13-15. Visit our website for more details. We hope to see you at the Day of Celebration on Sunday, May 15 at 2:00pm. |

COVID Update from the Response Team |
We are so glad that cases are beginning to go down in Framingham and Massachusetts. Sunday School has resumed, and all other events will be resuming, and we are excited to now continue congregational singing with a mask. We are working on providing masks that have been rated for high protection, and we ask that you refrain from wearing cloth masks as they have been shown to offer little protection. Thank you so much for your understanding and adaptability during this pandemic time. We know that all of us would rather be back to normal, but we seek to follow Christ's example of protecting the most vulnerable among us. |
|
REMINDER:We want to encourage you to turn in a pledge card for 2022. Even if you are not sure how much you can give, please let us know that you are praying on how you can give. Knowing the commitments for the year ahead helps us to plan the programs and ministry, like our food pantry, lunches, and important improvements that we do as a church. If you need a pledge card, there will be extras in the narthex. The entire church leadership thanks you for your generosity! |

A Note About Writing ChecksPLEASE MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO FIRST UMC |
We have encountered an unexpected snag with changing our name at the bank to Beacon of Hope UMC. Until we can get the issue resolved, please make all checks to the church payable to First UMC. We will let you know when the name change at the bank is official, and you can start making checks payable to Beacon of Hope UMC. We apologize for the confusion, and any inconvenience. If you have any questions, please contact Mike Rowe. |
