Committee Meetings
National Day of Prayer
Mother's Day ~ Memorial Day

"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty....." ~ Zechariah 4:6

What does God's Spirit look like to you?

Is it a Dove or Tongue of Fire as described in the Bible? Is it something or someone tangible that we can actually grasp and understand, or something more?

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." ~ Galatians 5‌:22-23

God's Holy Spirit - is God's living presence in us. God's gift to each of us who believe in all Jesus has done for us. When we pray, "Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit" - God always answers that prayer! How God fills us with His Spirit - is up to Him. But, the evidence of His Spirit working in our lives is listed above.

We need God's Holy Spirit, and God is very happy to bless us with it. It is the Spirit of Wisdom, and Forgiveness and Love - attributes of God that the world needs.

If we are compassionate, His Spirit of compassion is evident; if we are working towards achieving a goal, His Spirit of excellence is with us; if we are trying to be peacemakers, His Spirit of peace prevails.

Today, take a moment of silence and solitude and reacquaint yourself with God's Spirit in you. Then utilize that Spirit to the fullest as we work towards a better world together.

Amen!

~ Pastor Denise

Worship Through Giving

We are thankful for your faithful support during these challenging times. Your generous giving has been vital in maintaining our ability to cover expenses and continue our church ministries. You may continue giving in-person at the indoor worship service, by sending your offering check directly to the church, or by using the church online giving feature found in the footer of the church website. It is easy, secure, and appreciated. The Online Giving option is also available while you are watching the weekly online worship service. --- Thank You

If so inspired, you may give online now, by clicking here.

Thursday Bible Study
Pastor Denise leads this bible study every T‌hursday at 11‌:00 ‌AM. This study is designed to encourage Pastor Denises' three churches to read through the entire Bible in 2022. Each week is standalone, so you are welcome to join the study at any time.

The study takes place at DeBows in Fellowship Hall and you may join the bible study via Zoom if you wish. The Zoom link is found in the church calendar for that meeting date. Also, check the church calendar on the website for any schedule exceptions. You may access the church calendar by clicking here.

Prayer Ministry
Please keep the following people in your prayers ...

  • Theresa Slover - she had a biopsy done on a lump in her neck and test results indicated that it was cancerous. Please keep Theresa in your prayers and hope future treatments are successful.
  • Paul German - he is recovering from the flu (non-COVID). Please pray for a quick recovery and that Mary Jane stays healthy during this time.
  • Joseph (Barbara’s brother) - he is ill and in need of a lung transplant.
  • Guy Raymond - went for a heart explorative procedure and ended up with a stent to address an 80% blockage of one of his arteries. He is doing well but will need to monitor the situation and adjust what he does accordingly.
  • Steve & wife (son of Guy Raymond) - going through some family struggles.
  • Chloe (Donna Ridge's great niece) - she is now 8 months old and is not tolerating the last round of chemo. She is in a lot of pain and very weak. She is supposed to have surgery on March 31 to remove a tumor from her kidney, but if she is not strong enough, they won’t be able to do the surgery. Prayers for improved strength and a successful surgery.
  • Prayers for Ukraine and for peace and for the war with Russia to cease.
  • Sue Esposito (Joy’s friend) - is in hospice and not expected to live long.
  • Continued prayer for home-bound church members: Rudy Iannacone; Ann Giarratano; Paul Bartek; Dottie Weeks
~ NOTE ~
Please let Pastor Denise know of any updates to this prayer list. Additions, removals, or status updates. Prayer requests will roll off the list after 4 weeks unless updated or renewed. All prayer requests go directly to the pastor.
Food Pantry Ministry
The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Monday each month, 6‌-8pm. The next Food Pantry distribution is M‌onday, M‌ay 9.

DeBows uses an "Appointment Only" system to distribute the food. People can make an appointment by calling 848-373-8844.

Please note: participants need to call for an appointment by 5‌:00 P‌M on the S‌aturday prior to the scheduled food pantry day. This gives the Food Pantry volunteers time to prepare the food for distribution. "Thank You" for your cooperation.

Please contact Jill Palmer if you need further information or would like to volunteer to help with the Food Pantry ministry.

New Pastor Appointment
Effective J‌uly 1, 2‌022, Rev. Scott Clifton has been appointed to be the pastor of DeBows UMC, in addition to his current church, Groveville UMC.

As a lifelong United Methodist, Scott grew up serving in the church. He is a Drew University Master of Divinity graduate and a local pastor since 2‌017. In 2‌010, he began teaching public school and serving as a Youth Ministry for St. Andrew UMC and from there felt God was calling him to full time ministry.  Scott has a servant heart and believes that when we let God’s love work through us, we can then share that love with others. Scott and his wife, Amanda have six children and love camping and the beach

Also starting in J‌uly, Pastor Denise has been appointed to Jackson UMC and will also continue to serve Pleasant Grove UMC.

We wish both Pastor Denise & Pastor Scott all the best as they begin their transition to the next steps in their respective ministries.
