Literacy Chicago Helping to Create a Movement
to Eradicate Illiteracy Worldwide by 2030

Joanne Telser-Frere, Director of Program Development, is honored to be invited to participate on the Advisory Committee of the first Global Summit on Disruptive Literacy. This summit is organized by Sunita Gandhi, General-Secretary of Disruptive Literacy, a nonprofit organization based in Lucknow, India.

The summit is to act as a catalyst for concrete global actions towards making one billion children and adults literate by 2030. It will take place from September 8 through the 11th, both in Lucknow and as an accessible virtual event.

The goal is to bring together leaders, policymakers, practitioners, the donor community and other change-makers from around the globe to discuss the critical issue of literacy poverty. The Global Summit on Disruptive Literacy will provide opportunities to share experiences, build relationships, explore disruptive solutions, and help create a roadmap to end literacy poverty in a time-bound manner.
