It’s time to take action!
The Center has been at the forefront in the battle to have Commissioner Dennis Hodges held accountable for his transphobic and homophobic remarks at a Commission meeting last November and be removed from the Leon L. Williams San Diego County Human Relations Commission (HRC). Thanks to our community’s advocacy, the Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to approve the HRC’s updated bylaws and code of conduct, and we finally have a process to remove this appointed commissioner! But we aren’t done fighting until this commissioner is removed – we need your help!

Commission Hodges' lack of respect, his misgendering of our community members, and his insistence that he’s done “nothing wrong,” all demonstrate that he has violated the HRC’s Code of Conduct, is unfit to serve as a commissioner, and should be removed for cause.
Now is the time to tell our stories – hateful rhetoric targeted toward the LGBTQ community causes real harm, and it has no place in our community, especially from appointed and elected officials who are called to serve the human rights of all San Diegans.
