Snack Donations Still Needed - HOSA and Robotics

If you are able, please consider donating snacks for our participating students competing at next week's HOSA State competition in Galveston and the Robotics World Championship in Dallas on May 5-7.
  • If you would like to donate snacks for the competitors (boxes of chips, fruit, granola, crackers, etc...), drop off any donations to the front office and mark them for 'HOSA Competition' or 'Robotics Competition'.
  • If you would like to make a monetary donation to help support the robotics competitors, visit our general donation form and enter 'Robotics Competition' in the notes.

Public School Volunteer Week

Please join me this Public School Volunteer Week in thanking all of the dedicated volunteers who selflessly work to support our district. This week provides HISD students and staff an opportunity to honor and highlight the powerful contributions parents, caregivers, and community volunteers make to support student success.

This school year, we were able to welcome more than 20,935 HISD VIPS volunteers back to our campuses. They have contributed more than 50,000 volunteer hours—a value of more than $1.4 million to our campuses and in our school communities.

59 of our VIPS volunteers have donated more than 100 hours of their time to HISD, making them eligible to win the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

While the numbers are impressive, the contributions are immeasurable. Volunteers, thank you for your very important impacts on our students, their families, our campuses, and our educators.

We could not succeed without you.

This week, HISD campuses will celebrate their volunteers by posting appreciation messages on school marquees, in newsletters, and through social media. The virtual VIPS Celebration will take place Friday, April 22, at 9 a.m. To attend, please RSVP.

HISD Wraparound Services Survey

HISD’s Wraparound Services Department will be conducting a Parent and Staff Needs Survey Assessment. The purpose of this survey is to identify the most pressing, non-academic challenges facing students and families within the district.

Wraparound Services supports are offered at every HISD campus, and the primary function is to connect students and their families with community resources that facilitate students’ ability to learn in school. Wraparound Services can assist with access to a variety of non-academic supports, including access to physical and mental health professionals, food, housing, and more.

This survey will be available April 11-22, 2022. All staff and parents with a valid email address on file will receive an email asking them to complete the survey. The survey will also be posted on the Wraparound Services website, on campuses by QR Code, and other campus-based media platforms. The information collected from this survey will help the Wraparound Services Department better support the academic development of all students through targeted, non-academic supports.

This survey will ask a series of questions about the following topics:

  • Healthcare
  • Stress and mental health
  • Regular expenses (housing, food, clothing)
  • Home academic context (someone to help with homework, books, internet)
  • Educational activities (tutoring, mentoring, after-school programs)

Answers to these questions will help the Wraparound Services Department develop programs and services that better meet the needs of all students and families across HISD.

All information provided will be kept strictly confidential. The survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. If you need more information or assistance in completing the survey, contact the campus wraparound specialist.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey!

Senior Signing Day - Donations Needed

The Senior will have College Signing Day on May 20. College Counselor, Mr. Rosa, has planned multiple activities during lunch for the students. We will have cookies, DJ and photo backdrop for kids to take selfies.

We are asking for parent donations for the college experience gift table.

Below are some suggested college related items. Items will be sent to the school for collection & display before the event on May 20.
