Factoid: Sunday was the first time in more than 30 years, Judaism’s Passover, Christianity’s Easter and Islam’s holy month of Ramadan converged on the same day.

Upcoming Township Committee Meeting - Wednesday, April 20
The Township Committee will hold its next Regular Meeting this Wednesday at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom Meetings only, as has been the practice since the start of the pandemic. The agenda can be found HERE.

Morris Township Meeting - March 16, 2022
The Township Committee held its last regular monthly meeting on March 16. You can find the meeting agenda HERE.

As a reminder, video recordings of each of our Township Committee meetings can be found on Morris Township’s YouTube page. The entire meeting is recorded and available for public viewing.

The March meeting opened up with recognition of MARK HOWARTH, Superintendent of the sewer department, for 45 YEARS of service to the Township of Morris. Congratulations Mark to your long service to our community!

There were no ordinances for final reading at the March meeting.

There were TWO new ordinances for introduction at this meeting. Read the full text of these ordinances HERE.

Next the Township introduced the 2022 Municipal Budget. You can view the brief presentation if you watch the meeting video (see the link below).

The meeting then continued with the Township Committee voting on 14 RESOLUTIONS. Find the full text of each resolution HERE.

Next up were reports from the Standing Committees (varying combinations of two members from the Township Committee are assigned to various operating functions within the municipality to provide oversight), followed by individual commentary by each member of the Township Committee. The meeting concluded with “public comment/inquiry” from our residents. You can listen to all this commentary by clicking on the video link below.

MEETING TONIGHT:
Dunkin’ Donuts Proposal for Madison Avenue in Convent Station
For those of you who live on the east side of town, I wanted you to be aware of a hearing taking place Monday night April 18 before the Morris Township Planning Board.

Application PB-07-21, Anna Management, LLC

Site Plan Block 8602, Lots 4, 5 & 6, 222 Madison Avenue, B-11 zone.

Continuation from the March 21, 2022 public hearing, applicant proposes to convert the existing bank into a Dunkin Donuts with curbside service and a Market where customers can purchase prepackaged items.

The meeting starts at 7:00pm and you can find the Planning Board meeting agenda HERE which also contains the Zoom meeting link.

Seasonal Yard Waste Collection
Monthly yard waste collection by the Department of Public Works begins in April and will end in September (and then leaf pick-up starts in October). Curbside pickup of grass clippings, leaves, plant waste, light brush and bundled sticks/limbs takes place on the scheduled Saturday dates listed below.

Please follow these rules:
1. Curbside pickup of grass clippings, leaves, plant waste, and light brush takes place on the scheduled Saturday dates listed below beginning in April and ending in September. Please review the street listing to find out your zone and scheduled collection dates.

2. Place in 32 gallon standard garbage cans with lid and handles

3. Grass clippings, leaves, plant waste, and light brush can be mixed together during this period. Light brush should be tied with string in bundles no longer than 4 ft., or placed in 32 gallon standard garbage cans cut to the height of the garbage can.

4. NO plastic bags – please!!

5. Fifty (50) pound limit per can or bundle.

6. NO dirt, logs, roots, or stumps.

7. Alternative for RESIDENTS ONLY (no contractors): Residents may also bring grass clipping and light brush to the Department of Public Works located on Jane Way off West Hanover Avenue anytime during business hours, Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and each Saturday from 6:00 AM to 1:45 PM.

Message from the Morris Township Police Department:
Reporting Suspicious Activity

The following message was released by the Police Department:
We want to remind everyone that we need you all to help us be the eyes and ears of the community and to make a report immediately if you see something suspicious. You can call 9-1-1 if it is emergent and if it is a non-emergent issue, you can call the non-emergency number at (973)-539-0777 and press "0" for our dispatcher. 

Please be mindful that responding to suspicious circumstances is our police department's responsibility and at no time should anyone put themselves in harm's way. Making a phone call and being a good observer is what's most helpful to our responding officers so they can investigate efficiently. When gathering information, please remain in the safest location possible while getting descriptive information of the circumstances, persons involved, and possible vehicles.

  • Morris Township to Hold Town-Wide Garage Sale
    Morris Township residents are encouraged to participate in a Town-Wide Garage Sale on Saturday May 21 and Sunday May 22. All participant addresses and times will be listed on the Morris Township website and the Morristown/Morris Township Library website. If you live in Morris Township, register through Community Pass. Deadline to register is Wednesday, May 18 at 4pm. If you have questions, call the Morris Township Parks and Recreation Department at 973-326-7371.

  • Morris County Sheriff's Office Alerts Residents To New Scam
    The Morris County Sheriff's Office has received multiple calls from residents regarding a Grand Jury scam that is hitting the area, said the sheriff's office. According to authorities, the phone calls come from a 973-520-7696 phone number and reference Grand Jury summonses and failure to appear. The caller directs residents to contact a "Captain Terry Alexander" or "Lieutenant Susan Parks", both of whom are not affiliated with the Morris County Sheriff's Office, said officials. The Sheriff's Office reminds residents to never give out sensitive personal information, money or access to your assets. Anyone who has questions or has received a phone call like this, contact the Morris County Sheriff's Office at 973-285-6600.

  • Video Recordings of Planning Board Meetings
    In a continued push for transparency, Morris Township is now recording Planning Board meeting and posting them to their YouTube channel (same place you find the Township Committee meetings). The Planning Board meetings from January and February can now be found on Morris Township’s YouTube page.
     
  • Sign up for Morris Township’s “Municipal Messenger”
    In order to keep updated with news and information related to Morris Township, I encourage everyone to sign up for “Municipal Messenger” email notifications by clicking here.  The Municipal Messenger is an invaluable tool to receive important information from the municipality.
