Alicia Olatuja takes Manship stage for Jazz Masters

“A singer with a strong and luscious tone and an amiably regal presence on stage.” – That’s how the New York Times describes mezzo-soprano Alicia Olatuja, who takes the stage at the Manship Theatre April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the next installment of the River City Jazz Masters series. She gained international attention in 2013 with her solo performance with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at President Barack Obama’s Second Inauguration. Her most recent album, “From the Minds of Women,” has her singing the works of noted female composers such as Brenda Russell, Sade, Tracy Chapman, Kate Bush, Angela Bofill and Linda Creed.
