BOARD NEWSLETTER
I recently made a new commitment to be in touch with the Board every month in which we don’t have a Board meeting. I hope you like this effort, which is modeled after our monthly staff newsletter. Please share with me any feedback you might have!

Here we are in the last quarter of our year, and we’re growing and preparing for a new season. We’re increasing staffing at both the administrative and program levels; having a super-talented bunch of employees who can apply for and move up into new positions is so exciting. Adding new members to our CIS family is also exciting. The FY23 budget is underway. Apricot 360 is being assessed and fine-tuned for the coming year. Our Student Support Coordinators are making plans for end-of-year activities. We’re planning for an in-person Summer Engagement Conference, and I don’t think the word “excited” does justice to how we’re all feeling about getting to be together again in the same space!

The Board has much to do to end one year and prepare for another as well. Committees will be meeting prior to the June 21 Board meeting. In preparation for FY23, an officer slate will be identified, a strategic planning task force will be added to our committees, and new goals will be set. There is also much to do to end FY22, including the making of your Board gift if you’ve not yet made it; we are nearly at the end of this fiscal year, and several Board members have not yet made their FY22 gifts. There is truly no time like the present to make your gift; 100% participation is critical.

Read on for more info about all kinds of goings-on, and let me know if you have questions or thoughts.

SUCCESS STORY OF THE MONTH

When a caseload student's family vehicle was about to be repossessed, the Student Support Coordinator stepped in to help. Maurlon, the Student Support Coordinator at Noel Elementary, spoke with the dealership and received a payment extension for the family. He also assisted them with making the payment, found additional resources, and helped the father obtain employment.

Cherica Eckiwaudah was a close second, logging nine separate donations valued at $3,585 and including board games, clothing, and reusable water bottles.
