On this spring morning we heard special music from our choir and organist Steve McCullough. Andrew Conner assisted and read from Psalm 118. Ellie Templeton’s Children’s Lesson reminded the children today is Prayer Partner Sunday at our church. Any child going into kindergarten will get a prayer partner to pray with and for them. She asked us to remember that stories and prayers have five Ws - who, what, when, where and why.
Pastor Mike Riggins read from Acts 5, reminding us of Peter’s exchange about Jesus’ teachings with the council. In his sermon “Speaking Up” he told us how Nelson Mandela was moved to speak up against apartheid, first with discord and then through non-violence. Like Jesus and Mandela, there are times when we must speak out, even if afraid. Allow the spirit to motivate you to speak out about our church. Speak up.
