Introducing Alice Dashevsky, Our Spring Media Intern!
|
|
The Ward Group is thrilled to welcome Alice Dashevsky as our new Spring (and first fully remote) intern! As a student in the Texas Media & Analytics program at the University of Texas in Austin, Alice brings a refreshing eagerness to learn all the ins and outs of the media world. Our Digital Media Specialist, James Pruitt, also graduated from the same program in 2017. We guess you could say he’s excited to finally have another Longhorn aboard. Now, let's get to know more about the wonderful Alice! (Hint: She fits right in).
What excites you the most about your internship with The Ward Group?
I am most excited to put the concepts that I have learned in my classes into practice! Although what you learn in school only brushes the surface of what your career path has to offer, I am eager to get my hands dirty. Also, I am looking forward to gaining confidence within the workspace, becoming more comfortable and secure with sharing my opinions and ideas. I am also excited to learn from my experienced coworkers and receive advice as to how I should navigate through this industry!
Where do you see yourself after you graduate in December?
I envision myself working an entry-level media planning or account service position for an agency after graduation, whether it is here in Texas or somewhere else. Admittedly, it is both exciting and terrifying to picture myself beyond college, as school is all that I have ever known. Hopefully, I will find myself in either New York City, Chicago, or Los Angeles (or another bigger city) within the next few years, transitioning into media strategy and taking on fashion, makeup, or luxury-focused accounts. I would also love to work for Deutsch LA, despite their clients not being related to my aforementioned interests.
We hear you’re a dancer – what is your style of dance?
My favorite styles include jazz, lyrical, and hip hop! I solely focused on ballet until my sophomore year of high school, and I switched to my school’s drill team my junior year. That’s where I was introduced to my favorite styles! I do miss performing, though — I loved it so much.
We’ve also been told you like to travel. What are some of your favorite places you’ve been, and what is on your list of places you’d like to visit?
Some of my favorite places have included Venice, Barcelona, and Strasbourg — they were all so pretty! I would love to visit Paris, for I have never had the chance to go. However, I am also dying to visit Seoul, Amsterdam, Stockholm, London, Prague, Sydney, and Santorini. I like to consider myself a “foodie,” so I would love to channel my inner-Anthony Bourdain and try the delicacies these places have to offer!
It's time for the most important questions of all: (1) What are you currently binging on Netflix? (2) What are your top artists on Spotify?
I am currently watching and alternating between Bridgerton, Euphoria, and New Girl. There’s nothing like the second-hand embarrassment New Girl exudes. Also, I have been meaning to start Peaky Blinders!
My top artists on Spotify include Jack Harlow, Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Don Toliver, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage. One could honestly label my music taste as being “basic,” but it’s what I find myself belting out the most whenever I’m driving!
Name one random fun fact about you.
I have visited Italy four times with my family, and my favorite movie is Love, Rosie — it’s so cheesy, but so good! Also, my favorite foods include gnocchi, tteokbokki, lox bagels, and cheesecake! (Editor’s note: We are quickly learning that Alice is an overachiever. We asked for one random fun fact, and she responded with three.)
Anything else we should know about you?
I have an identical twin sister, and I speak Russian fluently. Both of my parents were born in the Soviet Union, so I am classified as a heritage speaker!
