Welcome to our Autumn edition of Get Moving Greater Bendigo.
Hope you're all enjoying the transition to Autumn, it is such a beautiful and colourful time of year.
In this edition of Get Moving we feature many interesting things to see and do in our wonderful community, including the 2022 Be Well Be Connected Seniors Expo that links people to community services and supports for older residents, as well as interesting information sessions and entertainment. The expo is on Thursday 5 May from 10am-3pm and free to attend, more information below.
We always welcome local stories to share, if you know of other items of interest please email getmoving@bendigo.vic.gov.au so we can include them in our next newsletter.
The Expo is free to attend, no bookings required and will feature:
• Many exhibits showcasing entry level aged care supports and services and local community groups
• Information sessions about MyAgedCare, scam advice and staying active and involved in the community
• Yoga, dancing and entertainment provided by local performers
Everyone is welcome to come along and learn more about the Commonwealth Home Support Services and activities that help older residents to continue to live in their own homes and enjoy their lives to the full!

2022 Bendigo Writers Festival
The Bendigo Writers Festival is one of the best writers festivals in the country, and it's set to 'flourish' in the heart of central Victoria this May 12-15.
Be captivated by more than 100 presenters who'll take part in over 70 events, happening over a massive 4 days across multiple venues.
Join the Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre for a free morning tea to celebrate 'Better Together' National Volunteer Week on May 19 from 10am-11am at the Discovery Science and Technology Centre, Railway Marketplace , Bendigo VIC 3550.

Neighbourhood House Week
Long Gully Neighbourhood House is excited to be joining with Regional Victorians of Colour for a Moving Feast Celebrating Neighbourhood House Week.
On Friday, 13 May from 10am-2pm at Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre there will be a Multicultural story time in partnership with Mother Tongue Stories (in Karen-English); weaving workshops, multicultural feast of stories and lunch.
Draft Asset Plan 2022-2032 community feedback open
The City of Greater Bendigo is seeking community feedback on a draft Asset Plan to help establish a 10-year strategic framework on how assets are managed and looked after now and into the future.
A well deserved honour for a dedicated Bendigo resident and City of Greater Bendigo Positive Ageing Advisory Committee Member Ruth Hosking on being awarded the Order of Australia (OAM).
Ruth is a highly respected and valued member of the community for her tireless volunteering work and aged care advocacy.
