Introducing Stuart Hellon, our new GP-CPCS Implementation and Support Lead

We are happy to introduce Stuart Hellon, who has been funded using some central NHSE monies to assist with the roll-out of GP-CPCS across the county.

Stuart's title is GP-CPCS Support and Implementation Lead. He has been engaged on an initial 6-month contract, working 15 hours a week, usually on Tuesday and Wednesday, until 30th September 2022.  Stuart has a background in community support and the healthcare arena within the Boston area and may be known to some of you.  Stuart has also implemented change programmes within wider outside industry, working at all levels with internal colleagues and external customers.

Working to build relationships between general practice and pharmacies, Stuart aims to contact all PCN leaders individually within the next weeks, introduce himself and discuss what support is needed within the PCN to enable all of the GP surgeries to become users of GP-CPCS.  We are encouraging GP Practices to sign-up for the integrated module that enables CPCS referrals to go directly into PharmOutcomes, which should hopefully make the service easier to manage in pharmacies. Referrals will likely continue to be received via nhs.net email as well, at least for the time being, so please ensure you continue to check your store nhs.net email regularly.

As a reminder, the process for GPCPCS is shown in the flow chart below.  Remember, it is vitally important that all referrals are completed in PharmOutcomes and are finalised/closed down, even if the consultation does not take place, so that the referring GP practice is kept informed.

Our website has a dedicated page for information/guidance on GPCPCS referrals here.

We have also created a dedicated email address for GP-CPCS queries:
gp-cpcs@pharmacylincolnshire.org.

Pharmacy Review Steering Group Update

In case you missed PSNC Email on 19th April 2022

RSG proposals being finalised and upcoming contractor briefing events

The Pharmacy Review Steering Group (RSG) has reached agreement on a proposed way forward to ensure that the support and services offered by PSNC and the LPCs are fit for the future. The RSG is currently in the process of finalising its proposals and they are due to be published during this week. Contractors will have four weeks to read the proposals after which they will be asked to vote to either accept, or reject, the proposals in full. A three-week voting period will start in the w/c 23rd May, during which contractors can cast their vote using a secure and trusted online voting system. You will soon receive a pre-vote notice from Civica Election Services (formerly the Electoral Reform Society) who are managing and overseeing the vote, also acting as Independent Scrutineer, to ensure the impartiality and integrity of the process. The pre-vote notice contains important information about the vote and will be sent to contractors’ NHS.net email addresses and where possible also by post. Contractors will also receive a voting notice nearer to the vote. Only individual contractors will be eligible to vote and the vote results are due to published in June 2022. Upcoming contractor briefing events To help contractors to understand the proposals, the RSG plans to hold several contractor briefing events during the pre-vote period in May, including three national contractor briefing events and seven regional briefing events: one per NHS region. These events will be an opportunity for contractors to hear directly from RSG members about the proposals, and to ask them questions. Information about these events is available below and on the RSG website here.

National briefing events
National Contractor Briefing Event: Tuesday 3rd May, 7-8pm
National Contractor Briefing Event: Wednesday 4th May, 12-1pm
Timing of third event, later in May, tbc.

Regional briefing events
South East Regional Contractor Briefing Event: Wednesday 4th May, 7-8pm
London Contractor Briefing Event: Thursday 5th May, 7-8pm
Midland Contractor Briefing Event: Monday 9th May, 7-8pm
South West Regional Contractor Briefing Event: Monday 9th May, 8-9pm
North East and Yorkshire Contractor Briefing Event: Tuesday 10th May, 7-8pm
North West Contractor Briefing Event: Monday 16th May, 7-8pm
East of England Contractor Briefing Event: Monday 16th May, 8-9pm

Please note that while contractors are encouraged to attend their own regional event, all contractors are welcome to sign up to any of these events. There is no need to attend both your regional event and a national event, as the presentations will be the same at all events. National events are also open to trade associations and other wider sector participants, including pharmacy teams.

Lincolnshire Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2022 Consultation

We sent the following email to all pharmacies at their nhs.net store addresses on 19th April, just a reminder in case you missed the email:

The Lincolnshire Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (2022) will be published in October 2022 to review the locations, accessibility and the services provided by pharmacies in Lincolnshire both now, and with a view to the future. To achieve the best outcomes and give residents and interested parties a chance to comment and give feedback, there will be a statutory consultation period of a minimum of 60 days on the draft content. The consultation starts on 19 April and runs until 20 June 2022 (63 days).

An Executive Summary and all related information are available to download using this link. We would be grateful if you could share the link with your networks, allowing us to gain greater public input and understanding.

On behalf of the Lincolnshire Health and Wellbeing Board, please accept our thanks in advance of receiving your feedback.
